Is there any role Pierce Brosnan can’t play?
From GoldenEye to Mamma Mia , The Thomas Crown Affair to Mrs. Doubtfire , there’s really no kind of movie, be it drama, musical, comedy, or thriller, that Pierce can’t make his own.
But does that include superhero movies ? Apparently, according to Pierce’s recent appearance on The Tonight Show , it almost did.
“I went up for Batman way back in the day when Tim Burton was doing it,” Pierce revealed.
The movie Pierce auditioned for was the 1989 hit Batman , starring Michael Keaton, who would return to the franchise for a sequel called Batman Returns in 1992.
“Obviously, I didn’t get the job,” Pierce laughed with Jimmy before explaining why he thinks he didn’t get the role.
“I remember saying something stupid to Tim Burton,” he said.

“I said, ‘You know I can’t understand any man who would wear his underpants outside his trousers.’ But there you go,” Pierce said with a laugh.
Honestly, he’s got a point! Just because Batman’s underwear-overpants isn’t bright red on blue like Superman’s doesn’t mean it’s not real.
“The best man got the job,” Pierce said of the movie.
We might have to agree with him there — Michael Keaton did a great job!
