30 Pics That Made Us Question A Lot

Picture this: you’re scrolling through the internet when you come across a photo that is so strange it sends you spiraling down a rabbit hole of puzzlement; one in which you’re determined to find any and all answers.

Well, get ready to take a nosedive into these peculiar objects people posted online that upon first glance open up an entire metaphorical can of question-filled worms. Have fun!

A pink pineapple whose flesh looks like raw meat.

Reddit | BetweenTheLYNS

This Redditor was understandably confused when at work they cut open a pineapple whose core was a pinkish-red color that resembles a cooked ham.

According to another Reddit user, pink pineapples are real fruit, and their (confusing!) discoloration is caused by a lack of enzymes. The Redditor sources their information to an All Recipes article that explains how exactly this process works.

The 2016 post states that a regular pineapple contains enzymes that convert lycopene — a chemical found in fruits and veggies that gives them their signature red hue — into the golden color customary to a normal pineapple.

Thus, as the article explains, pink pineapples are created by their ability to “produce fewer of those gold-making enzymes.”

This humongous package someone received at their front door.

When we stumbled upon this photo, our very first thought was: what the heck could have been shipped to this homeowner that necessitates such a giant cardboard box?

Well, we eventually found out the answer — a couch. But knowing what was inside the box didn’t end our puzzlement at the sizeable packaging.

Rather, it led to many more questions, like how is a shipment that big carried to a doorstep? And, why was the couch shipped in cardboard instead of just being delivered on a truck as is?

Being a professional stander who waits in line for other people is somehow a very real job.

Reddit | Gerbillicker

“Robert Samuel, a professional stander, earns up to $1000 a week by standing in line for people,” the poster explained.

Surprisingly, the claim actually does check out. Business Insider wrote a story on Samuel who does, in fact, make a living by simply standing for hours.

Okay, so we only have one question — how do we get his job?

The size of cruise ships are kind of terrifying.

Reddit | Bunnystrawbery

This picture certainly belongs in a museum collection entitled ‘I never realized how large an object actually was.’

We were certainly taken aback by just how large cruise ships are, but Reddit sure wasn’t. What users were more fixated on was just how terrifying it would be to be on the ship while it drifts on the water.

“I couldn’t bear the thought of being cooped up like chickens with thousands of people with nowhere to escape to other than your cabin,” says Redditor LettuceWithBeetroot.

And when they put it that way, neither could we!

A teeny-tiny keychain Bible.

Reddit | ZombieHunters17

“I have serious doubts it’s the whole Bible. Maybe the New Testament or Old Testament but even then I find it hard to believe,” says Redditor mmaisfixed under the post.

And we have to agree! It seems nearly impossible to shrink a Bible down to that size without cutting out some chapters. But more so, how does someone even read such tiny letters?

We finally have an answer to the notorious missing puzzle piece.

Reddit | katiya

Well…this certainly explains a lot.

Perhaps all those times we were convinced we lost the final piece of a puzzle turned out to be false. It now seems quite possible that the manufacturer ‘accidentally’ shorted us a piece.

This confusing green rock found by a river.

Reddit | Jack120Red

Yeah, we have no idea what this long, peculiar rock could be. But Reddit sure has some ideas.

“Looks like sidewalk chalk,” suggests one user.

“It kinda looks like a big, rectangular mochi,” says another.

As for the most likely answer, one Redditor believes the stone to be a knife sharping stone.

“Looks like someone lost their whetstone,” they write, and we totally see it.

A watermelon with a ripe center and heart shaped sides.

Reddit | nokianovia

“This is just closer to what they originally looked like,” Redditor ChatGarou writes under the bizarre post.

What the user is referring to is the fact that watermelons once looked quite different from their current all-red interior.

According to Vox , watermelon breeding caused the fruit to change from its white core and swirled hearts displayed in the above picture to its modern bright, red center.

But clearly, some watermelons today are still reminiscent of their ancestors.

The security lock at a hotel that isn’t so secure.

Reddit | netphish30

We’re going to try and word our confusion in the nicest way possible. And in doing so we simply ask: how does someone mess up this badly?

Fortunately, one Redditor offers an answer.

“Looks like they moved that door from another room and were too lazy to move the [lock] to the right place,” user IPickLocks writes.

And based on their name, this Redditor seems to be a pretty reliable source.

This carpet that makes way for the door to open.

Reddit | malithi_

Instead of simply cutting the door to the right size, someone decided to cut the carpet. As if that wasn’t bad enough; the floor underneath the carpet is such an odd choice. Clearly whoever did this isn’t one for aesthetics.

We’re having a hard time wrapping our heads around this one. It makes so little sense, we’re actually kind of impressed.

The way this message was laid out.

Reddit | CrustyRanger375

Design isn’t for everyone. Some are just plain bad. But others, like the one shown here, are both bad and nonsensical.

It took us far too long to realize that the lightbulb and string running through the left column were supposed to act as an A for “creativity,” and I’s for “intelligence” and “having.” When your design has to be literally spelled out for other people to understand it, you’ve probably done something wrong.

Orange scallop shells are a striking find.

Reddit | MaksouR

Scallops are typically a tan or light pink color, so coming across such a vibrant orange shell is certainly a rare find.

One that we’re sure the scallop-collecting otter Pascal of Animal Crossing would love to get his hands on.

Niagara Falls drained of its water in 1969 during ongoing work to strength the waterfall against landslides.

Reddit | Actual_Tourist8069

“How did they just ‘switch off’ Niagara Falls??” asks Redditor IllustriousBass6, and we’re glad they did because we had the same question.

Luckily, another user provides some answers, explaining that the water was likely rerouted for a period of time while work was completed.

“Divert the river through a side channel,” the Redditor wrote. “There is a hydro canal that branches off the Welland river, linking above the falls to below.”

Okay, we still don’t fully understand the logistics of draining such a massive waterfall, but the concept of diverting the water does make sense.

This *massive* earthworm found in Australia.

Reddit | sojayn

We just have one question: how the heck was this Redditor able to get so close to the monstrous worm to pick up their mother’s key?

We wouldn’t want to stand even within six feet of the slithering creature that appears larger than a garden snake.

The stunning, long legs on this owl.

Reddit | Actual_Tourist8069

“Dude, you can’t just lift up a birds *[sic]*underfluffles!” writes Redditor Mykeprime under the startling post.

And we agree! Looking at an owl’s bare legs is making us feel super weird and a little uncomfortable, as if we shouldn’t be seeing what we are.

This is a crime against pizza.

Reddit | ShrexorBlade100

We think it’s safe to say that there are a lot of opinions out there on what should go on pizza. Since there are so many different kinds of toppings and flavors, there really aren’t any right or wrong answers.

But this… something about the way this pizza is being decimated from the center, crust untouched, is just so off. There may be no wrong pizza toppings, but there’s a wrong way to eat it.

The package went in, but will it come back out?

Reddit | birdlawyerval

If we’ve learned anything about shipping boxes, it’s that they’re never quite as simple as they seem. You can get them in a locker just fine, but getting them out will be a whole different story.

We’re pretty sure this is going to end with a lot of tears. Trying to get that box out won’t be an easy feat, that’s for sure.

Rough hands are the sign of a life of hard work.

Reddit | highlion69

Redditor highlion69 says, “Hard life for hands in a cement manufacturing plant! I’m a maintenance boilermaker and this is after a day working in the crap and dust. Choose your profession wisely kids…”

Are they rough-looking? Sure, but there’s a lot of experience in those wrinkles.

This keychain that thinks the capital of the Czech Republic is “Pradue.”

Reddit | ecler_killer

No, this isn’t a keychain from a new European city. It is, in fact, one from an existing city that just so happens to have one of its letters flipped upside down. The G looks more like a D, making Prague look like Pradue.

If this stumped you, don’t worry. Other internet users were similarly confused.

“I spent way too long trying to figure out where “Pradue” was!” Reddit user kobain2k1 writes.

A lizard that’s going on a little adventure.

Reddit | bassmansrc

It looks like this lizard has places to be, and a sink full of soapy water isn’t going to stop it! We have to applaud its courage, though. This may be an odd sight to see, but it’s also kind of cute.

Amazingly, there are some parts of the country that have lizards roaming around just like this. Redditor Rupertfitz writes about their experiences with the little guys in the comments.

“I’m in Florida and they all make little perches out of my plants & occasionally get a bathroom lizard, they like to sit on the shower head or on the side of my shampoo bottles.” So many lizard friends!

Somebody was hungry, but not *that* hungry.

Reddit | ricefish_

We would definitely be confused if we went into our snack drawer, only to find that someone in the house had nibbled on one of the snack cakes and then left the rest. We would also be super annoyed.

Sadly, some people just lack consideration for others. Now no one’s going to finish it.

A confusing “caffee” shop.

Reddit | BeckyLiBei

“Is ‘caffee’ a misspelling, or an abbreviation combining ‘coffee’ and ‘cafe?'” asks the Redditor who posted the photo of this coffee shop to the internet.

Many other users offered some answers to try and alleviate the poster’s confusion. This included a reply from Redditor Jasonblais4500, who explained that ‘caffee’ is how their Chinese-native mother-in-law pronounces the word coffee.

How interesting!

The stairs in a school that go nowhere.

Reddit | o2lsports

Stairs that lead to nothing are always a strange sight, but even more so in a school where there clearly must have been a purpose behind its conception.

Perhaps, the mysterious staircase led to an area of the school that was sealed over for some spooky reason. Or maybe the school just configured its layout and didn’t bother to deal with this remnant of its previous design.

Drink cases that are stacked like a game of Jenga.

Reddit | Atrium41

Jenga is a lot of fun. But maybe we shouldn’t be playing it with a stack of drinks, especially the carbonated kind. That looks like it would take one poorly placed item at the top to send the whole tower toppling down.

How someone did this and thought it was okay is beyond us.

Choose wisely, because there’s only one right answer.

Reddit | Lockjoy

Don’t you just love when you try to recycle, only to be met with something as confusing as this? Both sides say paper and plastic, so which side is for which material?

One Reddit user offers a pretty plausible explanation, at least. “The lid is only on backwards, but I guess it could have been designed to be stupid proof,” writes Conan776. If only it were that simple.

These nightmarish Japanese giant hornets.

Reddit | BeardedGlass

According to the user who posted the terrifying photo, these insects are considered the largest hornet in the world.

And if that fact only isn’t horrible enough, blogger Drew Haines of Everywhere Wild explains that the giant hornet’s sting contains a venom that can “eat through human tissue and destroy red blood cells.”

But, unfortunately, that’s not all. The original poster went on to say that this flesh-eating venom has another scary function than just stunning its victim. The toxin acts as a pheromone that signals other hornets to target you. Yikes!

Tesla’s mobile support van isn’t electric — it *surprisingly* runs on gas.

Reddit | dontgeauxthere

While this fact certainly had us a little shook, others weren’t so stunned by the discovery.

“It makes sense. Tesla doesn’t have a van/truck in their line-up yet, and it’d be stupid to use a sub-optimal vehicle for the job just to use your own model,” says Redditor ClaudeJRdL. “I bet that Ferrari [doesn’t] use actual Ferraris for their service vehicles either.”

Fair point!

This Major Watermelon Mountain Dew was in the freezer for two days and didn’t freeze.

Reddit | TheHoly_Coast

Which we think is super weird. But this strange anomaly in the realm of freezable soda is somehow overshadowed but the sheer size of the poster’s hand.

Just take a look at how tiny the bottle looks compared to just their fingers alone. We’re shook!

A carton of cream that has an expiration date of just under 2000 years.

Reddit | Nowhereman50

“I’m more concerned that the real date was probably 2015…Have you been saving the picture or is it really a 6-year-old cream?” asks Redditor marie-llama in the comments under the strange post.

Yeah, we were wondering the same thing, among other pressing questions, like how does such a misprint even happen in the first place?

Whoever put these antifreeze bottles above bottles of Gatorade.

Reddit | cccous

There’s a lot to question about this particular image. Antifreeze and Gatorade are two things that people buy in large quantities, though usually not together. You don’t really expect to see them along the same shelf, either.

In fact, this kind of storage is unsafe. Reddit user PM_ME_RIPE_TOMATOES points out the problem. “That’s not even proper chemical storage. You never store poisons above food/beverages.”

Others were curious about the price of Gatorade compared to the antifreeze. Apparently the stuff comes in concentrate. Who knew?
