For many, a wedding is one of the happiest days in their lives . It’s a time when you’re supposed to celebrate the union between yourself and the love of your life .
But some marriages weren’t built to last . Some were so doomed from the start, their weddings ended up not happening. People on Reddit shared times they knew there wasn’t going to be a wedding before the day of the event.
If you’re going to cheat, maybe just break it off.
“Bachelor party in Vegas.. Bachelor hooks up with a girl, gives her his cell phone number so they can continue the party that night.. Bride to be is sitting at home with the iPad getting all of the iMessages from the girl. She canceled the wedding that day.”
Yeah, that would do it.
“Here is a more upbeat story: the night before their city hall wedding, the bride and groom had separate big parties and got so wasted they both slept through the wedding.
“They didn’t realize it until city hall called asking where they were, and they decided [expletive] it we’ll do it later. They did eventually get married, and still are as far as I know, over 20 years later.”
A tragedy for wedding-planners everywhere.
“Hi there, part-time wedding planner here… Bachelorette party turned out to be Homestuck themed, complete with Homestuck male strippers. (Please for the love of Christ DO NOT ASK WHERE I FOUND THOSE.) It got weird and the groom walked in on the bride riding a candy-corn colored horn. Groom noped the [expletive] out.”
It’s supposed to be wedding NIGHT, not wedding FIGHT.
“My cousin runs a popular upscale marriage venue and always tells the story way better than this so here is a rough overview. The groom’s mom was a heavy drinker and got belligerent when she drank so understandably the bride wanted the groom to try to limit her drinking.”
“The afternoon before the wedding the bride arrives to see groom’s mom smashed with the groom himself giving her beers.”
“Next thing my cousin knows (she was there to oversee preparations) the bride and groom are in a straight up fist fight which leads to an Anchorman-style street fight between members of both families in the parking lot.”
At what point does a drunken mistake become a conscious choice?
“One of my best friend’s wedding was cancelled when he learned she slept with a stripper after her bachelorette party. Like three days after.
“He is happily remarried now with a kid.”
Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
“My friend had been with his fiancée of 8 years when she got pregnant. Fast forward 8 months and we decide that because they are basically common law married we need to throw him a bachelor party.”
“So we go to the nearest big city… we’re all quite drunk when he gets the call that his fiancée is in labor…”
“None of us are in any state to drive… We end up calling a cab and paying over $300 to get him to the hospital as soon as possible.”
“My friend is stumble down drunk when he walks into the delivery room smelling like strippers, with a [expletive] drawn on his face and covered in glitter…”
“I was positive that was the end. They’ve been Married 7 years and just had their second child last week.”
I’m sorry… what?
“In the early 90’s my friend’s brother was getting married. The night before the groom and best man decided they should kill the ex-boyfriend of the bride. They did, they got caught, and the wedding was cancelled – for obvious reasons.
“As far as I know, the two are still serving time.”
I guess it was probably for the best.
“A friend of mine apparently came to the realization he never wanted to get married. After the bachelor party and the hangovers he sat down and thought about it, then called his fiancée and broke it off.”
“Yeah people were pissed, but he admitted he really didn’t want to get married and this was better than the divorce they were headed for.”
The commenter also clarified that they broke things off for good, too. I guess it was better than having to deal with a legal battle later on.

“The bride walked in on them bangin’ boots. Big fight ensued, yada yada, then the Maid of Honor spills the beans that the groom ALSO had slept with her. A few months before.
“Yah. None of that went over well at all.”
That’s going to make for one awkward conversation later.
“Groomsmen go online to look at escorts for their buddy’s bachelor party. They find the bride on the site. My barber just told me this today, it all went down in his shop.”
Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands.
“So the couple has been sleeping together for a few years, she gets pregnant, and decide to get married. Months of planning go by and she begins to show.
“Bride’s parents wig right the [expletive] out, call her a slut, and forbid her to get married. They cancel the wedding, steal her parent’s car to elope, and torch the garage on their way out. It was magnificent.”
He could’ve just broken it off, though.
“This happened to my cousin. Apparently she was having a destination wedding down in the keys. Her fiancé booked the flights for her parents and herself, but ‘forgot’ his wallet and would take the next flight.
“He never showed up, he never booked the hotel or the restaurant. He checked himself into a mental institution back home.”
