Did you know that color-blindness affects 1/12 men around the world?
It’s a very common visual impairment that not many people talk about. But after a recent viral TikTok video — all of that is beginning to change.
Thanks to @socialistlyawkward and her color-blind husband, people all over TikTok are waking up to the realization that they themselves are also color-blind.
A lot of things go viral on the internet for strange reasons.
But seriously speaking, I never thought someone being colorblind would end up going viral.
But hey, it’s the internet. Where literally anything can happen to you.
A lot of people are colorblind, we just don’t necessarily hear about it often.
And a lot of people might not even know that they are colorblind which is pretty interesting.
In fact, this next video proves just that. The internet can be enlightening.
TikTok user Lindsay Van Allen recently posted a video of her husband painting a room.
As he goes over the wall with the paint roller, he says to his wife that he’s having a hard time distinguishing between the paint colors.
“They are very close to the same color, and I’m having a hard time telling what I’ve painted,” her husband explains.
He even begins to question whether or not she’s playing a trick on him. According to her husband, green and brown don’t just look the same — they are the same.
It sounds strange but this is more common than you might think.
Most people who are color-blind can still see some color. But when it comes to being able to distinguish reds, blues, and greens — most are unable to do so.
The viral video has also revealed that a huge number of TikTok users are also color-blind and never knew it.

That’s not the only time a TikTok has gone viral over someone being colorblind.
Justin Skapczynski’s girlfriend Halie Dorsa surprised him with some glasses that would allow him to see color.
What he thought were regular sunglasses at first, ended up blowing his mind.
He spoke to BuzzFeed on how the experience really moved him.
“When I saw how bright my pants were, I was shocked. I couldn’t believe that’s what they really looked like,” he said.
“I love wearing them outside and seeing how green the trees really are. Its incredible,” he said.
I am literally so happy that he has been able to have such a great and moving experience with these sunglasses.
