Road rage is something that a lot of us have had experience with, and it is never a pleasant event.
One man took road rage to new levels recently when he viciously attacked a nearby cyclists through the window of his moving car . The footage has left many people horrified.
Footage of the attack was captured by the victim’s wife.

Ady Short was out with his wife and six other members of the Swindon Wheelers club when he got into an altercation with the driver of a black Nissan Juke.
Short’s wife captured the incident from a camera that was attached to the back of her bike.
The Nissan driver had become stuck behind the cyclists on a narrow lane before eventually overtaking them.

It is perfectly legal for cyclists to ride two people abreast on roads in the UK, as the cyclists had been doing.
The Nissan driver eventually overtook the group and then slammed on causing the group to have to move around him, during which he grew violent.
Mr Short tried to “de-escalate” the situation by talking to the driver.

“As club secretary and a trained Ride Lead we’re meant to de-escalate any situations so normally (happens too often) we wait to hear what they say and then explain why we were riding two abreast,” Mr Short told road.cc .
“He was very angry as you can see but before I could explain he started hitting me, I just suffered a black eye as a result and didn’t actually get the chance to say anything before he hit me.”
The driver also drove into Short’s wife, knocking her to the floor as well.

Mr Short’s wife apparently only suffered light cuts and bruises as a result of the collision.
However, Mr Short felt that without his wife’s footage the situation would have turned out very different: “What took the steam out of this situation more than anything [post-fracas] was my wife shouting that we had cameras.”
The driver tried to flee the scene after the assault, but ended up waiting for the police to arrive.

The Nissan driver apparently made to leave the scene after the dust had settled, but the cyclists informed him that leaving the scene before the police arrived would only make matters much worse.
The driver has since admitted wrongdoing with regards to the assault.
However, Mr Short is apparently going to appeal the fact that the driver only received a caution for the assault.
Road rage incidents are worryingly common, especially for cyclists, so stay safe out there.
