One Woman Points Out That Lying To Strangers When Traveling Is The Way To Go

Traveling is something that many people look forward to in their lives. Going new places and exploring new cities can be a lot of fun for people. Some like to travel with friends and other like to travel alone—but, either way, it's important to be careful when traveling. Sometimes, people try to take advantage of tourists and travelers who are new to a city.

While many people advise against lying, sometimes, it's okay.

Many times in life, people say that it's "bad to lie."

We always tell people to be truthful and honest, because lying can cause problems and also it's a totally bad look for you to be a liar. No one likes a liar!

However, one TikTok user is showing it's okay to lie, especially when we travel.

TikTok user Cathy Pedrayes shared a video on her account showcasing that when traveling, especially alone, it's okay to lie to people who ask you questions.

Sometimes, these people can have ill intentions and it's safer to make up a lie than tell the truth.

The first lie is when people ask if it's your first time visiting.

If someone asks you this, Cathy suggests saying, "no, I used to live here." This way, people believe that you know your way around and you also know people nearby.

This can protect you and maybe save your life!

Another one is if someone asks if you're staying at a specific hotel.

Sometimes, people want to know if you are staying there or somewhere different.

This can pose a danger for robbery or even abduction if you are traveling alone. So, Cathy says to say you are simply waiting for a friend to arrive.

Someone also may ask where you are staying.

Like previously, knowing where you are staying can pose a threat and also leave you vulnerable to attack or robbery.

No one is safe from anything when traveling, just look at Kim Kardashian in Paris! The least expected things can go south sometimes.

You can tell people something general.

Saying a hotel chain that is very general and also "located everywhere" is a good response because it's general enough to be possibly true, but also there are so many of them, the person can't pinpoint if it's close by or not.

People in the comments also added some advice, too.

One person said to never let your Uber driver know when you are alone in a city traveling, too.

It's important to say someone is meeting you, like friends or your parents, so you can stay safe in cab rides.

Another person said they always answer "we" to questions.

When traveling, instead of saying "I," one person said they always answer saying "we."

This way, people believe you are traveling with other people, and you are not alone and vulnerable. You always have someone expecting you, whether it's true or not!

There were people in the comments who did not understand the video much.

Some people in the comments said, "just don't answer." But, for some, it's not always that easy.

Some women are harassed and even followed when they ignore people and do not answer. So, overall, this video is perfect and gives solid advice!
