Paris Jackson, the only daughter of the late Michael Jackson, recently celebrated five years clean from drugs and alcohol. But in her post, she revealed that she once suffered a heroin addiction.
The 26-year-old shared her celebration of sobriety in an Instagram post, admitting to having had an addiction to both the opioid drug and alcohol.

Jackson posted a video
The singer, who took to Instagram to share her accomplishments with the world, posted an emotional video showing the ways she used to party before becoming sober and just some of the difficult moments it caused her.
This was followed by snippets of multiple sobriety coins in the video and clips of her feeling better, soaking up the sun, and her happy relationships.
She wrote an emotional caption
In the caption of the post, Paris Jackson wrote, “hi, i’m pk and i’m an alcoholic and a heroin addict.”
“Today marks 5 years clean & sober from all drugs and alcohol. to say that i’m thankful would be a poor euphemism,” the singer wrote.
Jackson shared her gratitude with the world
“Gratitude hardly scratches the surface. it’s because i’m sober that i get to smile today,” she continued.
“I get to make music. I get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and cat. I get to feel heartbreak in all it’s glory,” she added.
The singer is happy to be herself again
Sharing her gratitude towards sobriety, Jackson added, “I get to grieve. i get to laugh. i get to dance. i get to trust. i feel the sun on my skin and it’s warm.”
“I’ve found that life keeps happening regardless of whether i’m sober or not, but today i get to show up for it,” she added.
She shared the good and the bad
The model and singer ended her post caption writing, “Here’s a little snapshot of what has been possible because of my sobriety, and my god i can’t believe i almost missed it all.”
Jackson has spoken about her hardships before
The only daughter to the King of Pop has previously spoken about her struggles with drug abuse and severe mental distress.
She had intimately told Rolling Stone that many of her tattoos had been cover-ups for marks left by the drug as well as self-harm scars.
She had denied reports of being in rehab in 2018
Back in 2018, the singer had denied reports that she returned to rehabilitation following Demi Lovato’s hospitalization due to drug overuse.
According to The Daily Mail, she had tweeted, “I haven’t gone to a clinic.. someone doesn’t have to almost die for me to know to be healthy.”
A year later, she also debunked other information
In 2019, she also debunked news that she had gone to a treatment center, saying, “Yes i’ve taken a break from work and social media and my phone because it can be too much sometimes, and everyone deserves a break, but i am happy and healthy and feeling better than ever!”
Jackson thanked those who supported her
By the end of the video she posted on Tuesday, Jackson wrote, “To those that helped me on this journey, if only for just the beginning, middle, or the whole time so far, you know who you are and i owe you my life. thank you. 5 years. THANK GOD.”
The model is now engaged
Paris Jackson announced only last month that she and her bandmate Justin Long are engaged to be married.
She shared the happy news in a heartwarming post she made for the 5 Seconds of Summer music producer on his birthday.
