Since many people do most of their shopping online these days, companies had to shift their focus towards suitable packaging options, or you would think so. Sadly it doesn’t seem that many of them got the memo that less is more.
Excessive use of plastic and paper is at its peak right now, and if we don’t do something about it, the environment will suffer. Here are some terrible examples of such wastefulness .
1. This Amazon Fail

Amazon has become our go-to to order pretty much everything, huh? But still, I wouldn’t have expected to see all this packaging for just five nail polishes. Why couldn’t they just combine it all in one box? Ugh!
2. This Eye Shadow Stick Gaffe

Ladies, apparently, this is what happens when you order just a single eye shadow stick online. Instead of appropriate packaging, it arrives in a box filled with packing paper. And now, all of that will most likely not even get recycled.
3. These Individually Wrapped Olives

It’s cool that now you can order all sorts of cocktail kits, huh? But I’ll tell you what’s not exactly cool. These individually wrapped olives, that’s what. It’s totally unnecessary if you ask me. They could have been grouped together, huh?
4. This Ring Packaging

This thoughtful gentleman bought a ring for his girlfriend from Oliver Bonas. But I don’t think he expected it to arrive in this fashion. The ring is in that tiny pink envelope there. Oh my goodness. That’s quite the wasteful packaging, no?
5. These Soda Cans

Who knew that soda cans could be this fragile that they need to be packaged in their own individual plastic containers, huh? Wow, this is something I’ve never seen before. What a complete waste of plastic.
6. These Disposable Masks

Wow, what a great deal. You can get these disposable masks in styrofoam and plastic wrap for only $1. Okay, sure. I would rather go to a dollar store and get ten of them packaged together for $1.50.
7. This Label Packaging Fail

Perhaps it isn’t a good idea to order labels online. Why? I’ll tell you right now. It’s because when you do, so you’ll get a package stuffed with styrofoam. What an absolutely stupid idea, huh?
8. This Ridiculous Excess

I thought I had seen some excessive packaging, but this one really does take the cake. This lady ordered a pair of earrings which should have arrived in a small envelope, no? Instead, she received it like this. OMG! Isn’t it crazy?
9. This Eco Moron

Yes, it’s really great to see that these sponges made from recycled and biodegradable materials came individually wrapped in plastic. Kudos to this company that thinks they’re actually helping the environment. I’m being sarcastic, of course.
10. This Eggplant Fiasco

It’s definitely going to be a lot of fun to peel the plastic off of this eggplant. Why did they have to do that? It makes absolutely zero sense to me. Just leave the damn fruits and veggies alone, okay?
11. This Smart Move

Oh geez, thanks for letting me know that I now don’t need a CD to download this. So what’s the point of receiving this note in a plastic CD case, then? They could have written this on a single piece of paper.
12. This Sephora Surprise

I would love to know how much Sephora charges for shipping? If it’s a lot, then I’m totally not surprised. They could have put this .05oz concealer in a tiny envelope, but instead, they wasted all this packaging.
13. This Hair Dye Job

Seriously? I just don’t get it. Why do companies feel the need to send a small box of hair dye in a giant package like this one? Why? Are they too cheap to buy various sizes of packaging?
14. This Shipping Fail

Get this oxymoron here. This person got fourteen pieces of unnecessary packaging and “freebies” for a tiny 15ml spray from Paco Rabanne. Holy moly. The funniest thing is that the cat is totally unimpressed by this, hee-hee.
15. This Beyond Ridiciculous Signage

Okay, Sobeys, thanks for doing your part to save the oceans. But can I ask a question: why would you package a tin can in plastic foil, huh? Can you answer that? Yeah, I didn’t think so.
16. This Laughable Order From Amazon

Leave it to Amazon to piss off yet another customer. You would think that when you purchase 27 books in one order, they get shipped in one box, no? Well, clearly, Amazon had another idea to handle this, haha. What a facepalm.
17. This Allergy Pill

Is it really necessary to enclose one pill in so much packaging? It’s bad enough that this person is suffering, but now they have to take extra time to open all these packages to get to their medicine.
18. These Apples

Does your blood boil when you see fruits packaged in plastic like this, too? I can’t tell you how annoying I think this is. I mean, there is no sense to it at all. Just give me a paper bag, that’s all.
I would like to know when will companies stop this excessive packaging nightmare?
If we continue to waste so much paper and plastic, there will be dire consequences, no? We must let these companies know that this way of packaging products is a big no-no. So let’s do our part, okay? Let’s go.
