Another day, another Jeopardy! update. Less than three weeks after it was announced that executive producer Mike Richards would be taking the role as host of Jeopardy! it was announced that Mike would be stepping down from the role after derogatory comments he made on a podcast resurfaced earlier this month.
Now, it has been reported that Mike is stepping away from the show for good, as per TMZ .
As you may recall, shortly after it was announced Mike would be replacing Alex Trebek as host of *Jeopardy!* controversy soon broke.
Fans of the show began posting resurfaced comments the producer made on a podcast from 2014.
The Anti-Defamation League called him out on Twitter for making racist remarks about Jewish people, as well as several sexist comments.
TMZ reports someone on the podcast made a comment about big noses, to which Mike responded: “Ixnay on the ose-nay. She’s not an ew-Jay.”
He also called his female co-host a “booth s**t” and made comments about her friends’ weight.
A few days after these remarks went viral, Mike stepped down as host of the show.
However, it was reported Mike was still going to stay on the show as executive producer of not only Jeopardy! but Wheel of Fortune as well. Naturally, this news was upsetting to many fans of the show.
Now, it’s been reported he is leaving that role, too.
According to TMZ, an email sent to staffers on Tuesday stated: “Mike will no longer be serving as EP of ‘Wheel’ and ‘Jeopardy!’ effective immediately.”
“We had hoped that when Mike stepped down from the host position at Jeopardy! it would have minimized the disruption and internal difficulties we have all experienced these last few weeks. That clearly has not happened.”
This story is still developing.
