While most companies like to keep the details as sparse as possible when they fire an employee, some such incidents are so public and unusual that they can’t help but become legendary around the office.
Sometimes it’s because people managed to critically mess up as soon as they started, and sometimes a former employee just makes a big scene on their way out.
But some of the wildest stories come from cases where companies either apparently forgot they fired someone or — in the case of the story we’re about to look at — just forgot who that person was entirely.
On November 4, a man who goes by Firr on Twitter shared his story after a recruiter lined up an interview with a company that had just fired him two weeks before.
But since he was somehow able to confirm the interview and was in a sustainable spot of freelancing while several other interviews were lined up, he decided to go for it anyway.
As he put it, “So I have no issue taking a bit of time out of my day to have some fun.”

As we just saw, he decided to highlight the absurdity by wearing his old work uniform and a fake mustache.
But since none of the people who helped him get to his interview ever knew him (and they didn’t comment on his get-up), all that initially happened was that he sat in a windowless office while the hiring manager kept giving him snacks.
But since he was once on the company’s engineering team and he was supposed to meet them that day, he figured it was only a matter of time before they got wise to his presence.
Sure enough, when the engineering team’s representative saw their former colleague back in the office and dressed like this, he wasn’t amused.
He sternly asked if Firr was here to re-interview for his job, to which he simply played dumb and asked to hear more about the position.
In Firr’s words, “He left. This is quickly getting police interrogation levels of awkward.”
And once he realized what was going on, the hiring manager was furious.
He asked why Firr hadn’t mentioned he was fired, to which he responded that he forgot because a lot changes in two weeks.
He also offered the hiring manager a gummy bear, which was unsurprisingly declined.
But the fact that he got all those snacks while spending over an hour in the office before he was found out made this whole saga an absolute win in Firr’s books.
And no matter how annoyed the hiring manager was, Firr couldn’t resist one final dramatic twist as he removed his mustache and asked how they knew it was him.
The manager’s response? “Get out of here.”
