A man in his 40s died at the Oasis concert at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday August 2. The concert was part of the British rock band’s reunion tour after 16 years apart.
He was initially injured
Officers and medics say they responded to reports that a man had been injured at the stadium at around 10:19 pm on August 2, per the BBC.
They added that he was in his 40s and that he was found with ‘injuries consistent with a fall’. He was then pronounced dead at the scene.
Police issued a statement of what exactly happened
A spokesperson for the Met police in London said, “At around 22:19hrs on Saturday, 2 August, officers on duty at Wembley Stadium for the Oasis concert responded alongside venue medics and the London Ambulance Service to reports that a person had been injured.”
Police issued an appeal to the public
“A man – aged in his 40s – was found with injuries consistent with a fall. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene,” the police added.
They asked people with further information on what happened to come forward.
One person seems to have seen him fall
The man seems to have fallen from an upper tier at the stadium, with one Facebook post made the night of the incident from a concertgoer reading, “Did anyone else see the guy drop from the upper tier last night… Was pretty messed up, I hope he’s okay.”
The stadium also commented on the incident
A spokesperson for Wembley Stadium also said, “Last night, Wembley Stadium medics, the London Ambulance Service and the police attended to a concert goer who was found with injuries consistent with a fall.”
“Despite their efforts, the fan very sadly died. Our thoughts go out to his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers.”
But the next concert went as planned
“The Police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them,” the stadium spokesperson said.
“Tonight’s Oasis concert will go ahead as planned,” they added on August 3. The band had five dates at the stadium, with one taking place the night after the man died.
The band have commented on the tragedy
Widely-known and loved band Oasis have commented on the tragic death at their concert, telling LADbible in a statement, “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night.”
“Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.”
They’re are doing a reunion tour
The concert where tragedy struck is part of the Oasis Live ‘25 tour which is seeing the Live Forever and Wonderwall singers reuniting with fans after 16 years apart.
