Despite having filed for divorce earlier this year, pop star Jennifer Lopez and actor-director Ben Affleck were seen having lunch together on Sunday, 22 December, at the members-only Soho House in West Hollywood.
The ex-spouses reportedly exchanged Christmas gifts during lunch despite J. Lo filing for divorce from the Good Will Hunting writer and actor in August of this year.
The two don’t intend on being estranged
In a report released by Page Six on December 17, an insider said of J. Lo and Affleck, “They have every intention of continuing to be in each other’s lives despite not being romantically involved.”
The two had been married for two years, with it not having been the first time either of them were wedded to another.
The stars still communicate
The insider told Page Six that 55- and 52-year-olds are careful to maintain close relationships, especially for the sake of their kids.
They said, “Ben and Jennifer are still connected and they do communicate when it involves their kids.”
It was a cozy day for the two
For the casual lunch, J. Lo looked like her usual fabulous self, wearing an oversized cardigan paired with wide-leg blue jeans.
On the same day they met up, Affleck also picked up his son Fin, who turns 16 years old next month, from his ex-wife Jennifer Garner’s home in Brentwood park.
J. Lo has been feeling the Christmas spirit
The 55-year-old mother has also been celebrating Christmas with the family, having posted an Instagram story of her 16-year-old child Emme Maribel Muñiz singing Justin Bieber’s Beauty and a Beat with friends in the car.
She wrote a heartwarming caption saying, “When all the kids get together for the holidays!”
Affleck and J. Lo remain partners in cinema
Despite separating a few months ago, J. Lo and Affleck remain partners in the creative industry.
They have recently worked together on the newly-released sports drama Unstoppable and the upcoming movie Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Unstoppable is about a wrestling champion
The sports drama Unstoppable will start streaming on Prime Video on January 16 and it tells the story of a disabled wrestling champion who rises to the top above all odds.
It has received an 81% critic’s approval rating from 57 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
J. Lo will receive an award for Unstoppable
According to Variety, Lopez’s emotional performance in the drama earned her the honorary Legend & Groundbreaker Award, which will be given to her during the 36th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival’s Impact Awards brunch on January 4.
Affleck also has a premiere coming up
In addition to producing Unstoppable, Affleck has also executive produced an adaptation of the 1992 musical Kiss of the Spider Woman.
The world premiere for this adaptation is set to be on the 26th of January at the Eccles Theatre in Park City, UT, during the 41st annual Sundance Film Festival.
J. Lo also stars in this adaptation
The two-time Grammy nominee stars in Kiss of the Spider Woman, taking on the double role of Luna/Aurora in the big-screen adaptation of the musical by Bill Condon.
In this one, she performs impressive musical numbers that further prove her talents and grasp of the art of performance.
J. Lo plans on returning to rom-coms
According to a report by Deadline, the singer-actress will also reportedly return to the iconic rom-com genre, producing and starring in Netflix’s Office Romance with Brett Goldstein.
Well it’s certainly the season for new showstopping performances from our favorite stars, we’re being spoiled!
