Cancer is one of the most horrific realities of life . They say that 1/3 of people on earth will be affected by the disease, although it often feels far greater.
Almost 10 years ago, Twitter user Amy Clukey’s father was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer . In a truly serendipitous moment, her younger brother recently found a handwritten note, addressed to each of his six children .
The thought of one day losing our parents is something that many people can’t bring themselves to face.

From the time that we are born, our parents function as our invincible guardians to the world. They are our teachers, our protectors, and our best friends.
Yet as much as we all would like to deny the inevitable, the ugly truth of life is this:

One day, every single person that you have ever loved on this earth will one day be gone — leaving you behind with nothing but memories.
This is why it’s so important to make the most out of the precious time we’re given while our loved ones are still here.

The worst thing to experience in life is regret. There are no do-overs and no going back, which is something that Twitter user Amy Clukey and her family know all too well.
Amy’s father’s name was Rick Clukey, a father of six. Back in 2012, Rick was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer.

Sensing that he didn’t have much time left, Rick sat down to write a note that he hoped his children would one day find.
The note went into detail about Rick’s passion, which was beekeeping.

“I hope this note is found by one of my children who is curious about beekeeping ,” Rick’s note began. “Beekeeping is actually pretty easy and you can learn everything you need to know online.”
“Bees make more products than just honey and as a hobby[sic] it can be a source of extra income $$$.”

Rick concluded the note by telling his children not to be afraid, to have courage , and that he wished them good luck.
Less than a year later, Rick passed away at the age of 53.

His note sat undiscovered for more than nine years until his youngest son, Liam, discovered the note while sorting through some of his father’s old beekeeping equipment.
Amy admitted that although she herself isn’t too fond of beekeeping, several of her other five siblings are.

In fact, her sister Emily has since said that she plans on starting her own apiary once she has enough money to buy a house.
Amy joked that she wished her father was still around to help work on her sister’s house.

So that he could ” complete 80% of renovations and then leave them unfinished , the way he always did when I was a kid,” she replied to one of her Twitter followers.
The sweet sentiment behind her father’s message touched many of Amy’s followers as well as countless Twitter users.

“I needed this thread tonight,” Twitter user @poshyoshh wrote. “My dad is in the last few weeks of his life battling terminal cancer . I’ll come back to the thread in a couple months when I need it again.”
Amy’s father’s note is proof that even in those hardest moments of life, there is solace to be found.

Sometimes it comes in the form of signs, other times it’s passing memories. And every now and again, it’s a handwritten note from a long-lost loved one, spurring you on to try something new.
