Okay, I must admit I’m not much of a dumpster diver . But I have, on occasion picked something up from someone else’s curb.
However, some people make dumpster diving their thing. And it’s not as bad as you may think. Sometimes you can even find real gems in the most unlikely of places. These folks definitely lucked out in that department.
1. This Musical Gem

Who in the world would throw away a perfectly good-looking electric guitar? I’m totally baffled by this. It was made by G&L Guitars, which was started by Leo Fender of Fender fame. It came with a price tag of $1099. Unbelievable, huh?
2. This Dyson

I have to admit I’ve always wanted a Dyson vacuum cleaner. They’re supposed to be good, right? So I would be thrilled if I found this in the dumpster. Apparently, the power button wasn’t working. The person who found it fixed it, and it works as well as new.
3. This Vintage Typewriter

I just told my fiancé that one day I would like to own a vintage typewriter. So I was really shocked when I saw that some lucky person found this gem in the trash. It looks to be from the 1940s and in pretty good shape.
4. This 4K TV

It’s amazing what people throw out without even bothering to replace a single part. This curved Samsung 4K TV only needed a $35 part, and now it works like a charm. I bet the new owner is quite pleased with themselves.
5. This Gorgeous Mirror

If you’re into vintage-looking stuff, you might appreciate this find. Apparently, the drama department had no more use for this mirror, so a lucky dumpster diver got it instead. I have to say, I like it very much.
6. This Superhero Chair

Oh wow, I think Captain America would be quite jealous of whoever rescued this gaming chair from the dumpster. It looks absolutely brand new. Why on earth would anybody trash this, huh? I don’t understand this at all.
7. This Mid-Century Modern Desk

Somebody found this mid-century style modern desk that looks very well-made. If you were looking to get something like this today, it would cost you hundreds of dollars. I would love this for my house.
8. This Gumball Machine

Another interesting find somebody scored from the trash. The mechanism on the one on the left was broken, but it was easily fixable. Why do people just throw things out without getting them fixed? I’ll never know.
9. This Beautiful Canvas

I get it when people move, they might not have the space to bring everything with them. But instead of throwing something as beautiful as this, why not just donate it? I’m glad to see it found a good home after all.
10. This Fan

When your girlfriend asks you for a new fan, you might as well go dumpster diving, ha, ha. This guy did, and he scored big. I say it beats paying for it. Am I right? What a great find, huh?
11. This KitchenAid Mixer

I have to admit I don’t have a proper kitchen mixer. So if I found this beauty in the dumpster, I would be quite pleased with myself. I can’t believe somebody got rid of it that way.
12. This Gold Bracelet

Word to the wise, never throw out anything gold, people. This person found a 10k gold bracelet that weighs 37.6 grams. The total value of this would be about $925 in melt value. Not too shabby for a dumpster diving day.
13. This Motherload

This person works in student housing, and today was a move-out day. This is everything they managed to save from being trashed out of vacant units.
That’s quite the motherload of stuff. Am I right? The guitar alone has to be worth something, no?
14. This Gorgeous Ring

Can you believe somebody found this beauty in a jewelry box mixed in with a bunch of fake jewelry? It’s 14K yellow gold, with a 1K tanzanite gem in the middle, surrounded by 23 genuine baguette diamonds. Its appraisal value stands at $2,350! Wow!
15.This Clothing Haul

“When your fashion-forward neighbor starts to watch Marie Kondo and dumps half her wardrobe,” said the Reddit user who scored this haul.
Omg, if I found all these perfectly good clothes in the trash, I would take them, too!
Holy moly!
Can you believe all these gems folks rescued from the trash? Perhaps I should start dumpster diving myself, ha, ha! After all, I never know what might show up. Have you ever found anything cool or valuable in the trash?
