Donald Trump has expressed his dislike for Jimmy Kimmel’s return on TV after having been suspended.
The President shared his reaction
President Donald Trump has responded to Kimmel’s late-night show making a return on Tuesday, September 23, after a brief break.
In a Truth Social post made on the same day, Trump wrote that he ‘can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back.’
He wanted the show to remain canceled
“The White House was told by ABC that his Show was cancelled!” Trump wrote.
He added, “Something happened between then and now because his audience is GONE, and his ‘talent’ was never there.”
Trump was clearly unhappy about it
He went on, “Why would they want someone back who does so poorly, who’s not funny, and who puts the Network in jeopardy by playing 99% positive Democrat GARBAGE.”
“He is yet another arm of the DNC and, to the best of my knowledge, that would be a major Illegal Campaign Contribution.”
He then said he’d ‘test ABC’
The President then added, “I think we’re going to test ABC out on this. Let’s see how we do. Last time I went after them, they gave me $16 Million Dollars.”
“This one sounds even more lucrative. A true bunch of losers! Let Jimmy Kimmel rot in his bad Ratings.”
Kimmel was pulled off air last week
This comes after Kimmel’s show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! was pulled off air on September 17 by ABC, whose spokesperson said would be an ‘indefinite’ move.
This was in reaction to the backlash Kimmel’s show faced due to his remarks on the death of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.
Trump was happy about the cancelation
At the time, Trump, who is a longtime critic of Kimmel, celebrated his removal by the broadcaster.
He wrote on social media at the time, “Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED.”
The President praised ABC at the time
“Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible,” he continued in the September 17 post where also took aim at other late-night hosts.
He also spoke about it the day after
Trump also referred to Kimmel’s suspension as a firing in his state visit to the UK on September 18, though ABC and Disney had not characterized the situation as such.
“Jimmy Kimmel was fired because he had bad ratings more than anything else and he said a horrible thing about a great man named Charlie Kirk,” Trump said at the time.
He went on to call him lacking in talent
“Jimmy Kimmel is not a talented person, he had very bad ratings, and they should have fired him a long time ago,” the 79-year-old President added, per People.
“You can call that free speech or not. He was fired for lack of talent.”
