There are sooo many interesting things out there. Sometimes, you just have to know where to look. Other times, you can find something fascinating completely by accident.

Whatever strange or awesome discovery you find, though, do your best to document it. There’s nothing better than being able to share all of those amazing finds with everyone else. Just like the ones here, that people were so kind to share online.

“Cut bell pepper that looks like a duck.”

Reddit | lorenzo463

I’ve seen people cut bell peppers into random little shapes before (stars and stuff like that). But I’ve never seen one that was cut to look like a duck! This was probably accidental, but it’s still really cool.

The fact that even the stem helps out the overall duck shape is fascinating.

“The amount of rolls I used in 6 years.”

Reddit | Ist_Das_Ding_an

That’s… a lot of toilet paper rolls. But over the span of 6 years, it’s actually not much at all. In case you were wondering, there are at least 110 rolls in that shelf (yes, I counted). That averages out to about one and a half rolls used each month.

“I found this leaf with only its ‘veins’ remaining.”

Reddit | spechlfriedrice

That must be one super delicate leaf! Those veiny parts aren’t usually that noticeable, but when there’s no “leaf” part around, you can really start to notice how many veins are there. It would be really cool to try and press or preserve that leaf.

“The sand dispersed on this new bike lane make it look as though the sun is shining…”

Reddit | Technotronsky

At first glance, this lane does look like it has a bunch of sun beams shining down on it. But those clouds in the distance tell a very different story. The fact that the “sun” is actually an illusion created by sand blowing over the pavement is quite impressive.

“This house that is covered in ivy.”

Reddit | Limitlessfx

I’ve seen houses overrun by ivy before, but never to this extent. That house is more plant than building at this point. I wonder if that would act like insulation; like, would it help keep the house cool on a hot day? Or is it purely for decorative purposes?

“There’s a belt in this tree.”

Reddit | venus_n_furs

Here’s what probably happened: a person came by and tied a belt around a tree, left it for several years, and the tree eventually grew and engulfed the belt in its trunk. Trees will keep growing no matter what, so whatever you leave on there will just become a part of it eventually.

“Ordered a textbook online and they threw in a Red Bull.”

Reddit | jmancini1340

The fact that this person got a Red Bull with their textbook is a little concerning. Being in college is pretty hard; balancing a bunch of different classes, attempting to have a social life, and possibly even working. But students should at least be able to sleep, too!

“I took a picture of these corky street light poles.”

Reddit | Crowitiz

Streetlights are everywhere, and unless you like not being able to see where you’re going at night, you can probably agree that they’re pretty important. But, why not make them look cool at the same time?

These ones have a bit of quirk, but they’re still not so imposing that they’re blocking the walkway or anything.

“This old house next to a new skyscraper.”

Reddit | tobleroney69

Seeing old buildings next to new ones like this is always so cool. It just goes to show you that no one would’ve thought that cities would grow to the sizes they are today when they were first built. There are a lot more of us around nowadays, after all.

“This giant pair of headphone chairs at the mall.”

Reddit | AndrewDSo

Those seats are actually so cool! At a glance, you may just think of those giant headphones as an art installation. But you can actually sit in them too, which makes them even better.

If you look closely at the right headphone, you can see someone’s feet, meaning it’s actually being used!

“The eggs from my mom’s chicken.”

Reddit | zveejon

These farm fresh eggs may not look too special, until you realize that they all come from the same chicken.

I’m no farmer (I also don’t own chickens) so I wouldn’t think that one chicken could have so much color and size variation in the eggs she produces. Cartons don’t look like that in the store!

“Rubber band collapsed into a Treble Clef.”

Reddit | inPrestiwetrust

You know what? It actually doesn’t look like the shape of this rubber band was deliberate. Meaning that it just twisted itself into a treble clef on its own. Either this is one musically inclined rubber band, or the universe is trying to say something.

“This stick that looks like a snake head or snapping turtle.”

Reddit | FileOwn2034

Sometimes it’s the simple things that are the most fascinating. This is literally just a stick, but it’s also got such a cool shape. The end of the stick (on the left side) looks like a snake, snapping turtle, or even an eel opening its mouth. It even has an eye!

“Found an un-colored skittle in my Original Skittles bag.”

Reddit |Star-Infinite

The fun thing about Skittles is that everyone has a favorite color. So, what would we make of a colorless one? It’s obviously some kind of manufacturing error; it likely skipped the dye portion somehow. The biggest question should be obvious, though. What flavor is it?

“Found an old beer can while renovating our house.”

Reddit | duncanwally

When you renovate an old home, you really never know what you’ll find behind the walls. Sometimes, the surprise is really concerning, like rodent droppings or water damage. But other times, you find things that people somehow forgot in there. Like a super old can of beer. I wouldn’t drink that.

“I hit two branches with one arrow.”

Reddit | 10Karma69

Maybe it’s because I have terrible aim, but archery impresses me so much. The fact that a person can have so much control of a bow and arrow that they can shoot through two branches at once is mind boggling.

I wonder how long you have to practice to get this good.

“This circle my mum found in a chip.”

Reddit | spookey_woomy

There was probably some sort of hole in the potato before it got turned into a chip. But it’s almost perfectly round, so it had to have been made by some kind of tool. Honestly though, it’s kind of too cool to actually eat.

“These tables at my college campus use solar panels as shade, which in turn provide power for the charging ports on the table.”

Reddit | Gadevin

What a cool idea! Not only do the solar panels provide shade, but they help you charge your phone while you sit at the table. We should have more solar panels around, especially in public places or areas like this. I think they would be so helpful.

“Perfectly round rock I found at the beach.”

Reddit | Fudgemnky

Oh wow, I can’t get over how round that is! I wonder if it’s a naturally occurring thing, or if someone out there was able to polish the rock into a sphere, and then set it on a beach for some reason.

Nah, it would be too much effort for one person to do, so it’s got to be natural.

“Lowercase stop sign.”

Reddit | KungFuPandasDad

What a weird font for a stop sign. It’s like someone wanted it to look a little fancy, but still needed it to be a stop sign. At least it has the right shape, so it probably won’t be that confusing for drivers.

“A limited edition brick.”

Reddit | imadielol

Hmm…very interesting. I’m kind of curious if more of those bricks are in that structure, or if they’re in other places.

Also, I just realized that a limited edition brick is…just a brick with some words on it. Still, it’s really cool.

“This seed I found from a tree in San Francisco looks exactly like a rusty screw from above.”

Reddit | paulh43

Wait, wait, wait… you’re telling me that isn’t a rusty screw? Or a button? Or something made by people? It’s a plant? I swear, nature constantly impresses me.

I wonder what this strange seed would grow into…

“This 3.5kg beet my mom found.”

Reddit | likeitsaysinthebook

Whoa, that’s massive! I bet you could make a lot of borscht with that beet. Or, just slice it up and grill it. You could probably feed, like, a dozen people with that thing.

And now I’ve made myself hungry, which is just great.

“My frozen pancakes came with a tiny bonus pancake on top.”

Reddit | Jesus-was-a-mushroom

Sometimes, when I make pancakes, I end up with a little tiny one like this one. They’re so cute! Even if they’re kind of useless.

It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one who accidentally does this, and it can even happen to manufacturers.

“This 100% real and living rainbow flower my mom bought.”

Reddit | Myxtro

The flower is a real, living plant. The colors aren’t so natural, though. It’s pretty easy to do; you just need to put some different colored dye in the water the stem will be sitting in. It’ll absorb the color and dye the flower.

I also can’t help but notice the dark-colored leaves, and how they contrast the bright and cheerful rainbow flowers.

“Mildly ironic.”

Reddit | Mr_Flagg

I guess there’s no better way to tell people not to post signs than… by posting a sign. It’s a necessary evil. Even if it’s super ironic. Which it is. Because it’s a sign in a place where there aren’t supposed to be signs. Okay, I’ll stop talking.

“The back door of this truck is designed to look open.”

Reddit | heelheavy

Because why wouldn’t you want to have a mild heart attack while driving?

Even though I know that the back of this truck is just a facade, and there aren’t really any boxes about to fall out of it, it’s stressing me out. Just a little bit.

“THE most seasoned Dorito I’ve ever found!”

Reddit | _SpecialK23

I bet you that chip is the most flavorful chip anyone would ever eat. Luckily it’s Cool Ranch flavor, and not one of the spicy ones, or else whoever ate that would probably end up in the hospital or something.

“The guy who does the grass for my building left a rectangle of wild flowers so the bees can use them.”

Reddit | Gaddanger

Having a neat lawn is nice, but having bees around is much more important. Considering the fact that bees play such a vital role in pretty much every ecosystem, it’s nice to do what we can to help them out. This little patch of wildflowers is just so considerate.

“Before it was sprouted, this tree went to the moon.”

Reddit | bigmalakili

Can you believe that tree went to the moon? Well, maybe not exactly. At one point, sycamore seeds were brought to the moon, then brought back, then were used to grow this tree. That’s still really fascinating, though.

I wonder if there are any other trees from that seed batch around.
