Many times in relationships in our youth, there are things that seem fishy or “unkosher” to us. When we’re young, we have a lot of friends and big groups of people we will hang around, and sometimes, we grow weary of who we can and can’t trust.
In our youth, we don’t always see the bigger picture and we let the little things get to us—causing us to isolate ourselves or even question people’s intentions when things can be rather pure.
Being in a relationship when we’re young can be hard.
When we’re young, in our early 20s, being in a serious relationship can be hard. We try to get serious with someone and in reality, we may be too emotionally immature to be serious with someone.
With all of the partying, going out, and free-spirit lifestyle that so many of us live in our early 20s, things can get complicated.
Sometimes, drama stirs up where we least expect it.
With social media, cell phones, and texting at the forefront of today’s youth, things can always be sent, shared, and taken out of context. Back when we were young, it was all “telephone games.” Now, it’s shown on videos and pictures and totally confuses everyone.

Recently, one TikTok user was left in a pickle when she was sent a video of her boyfriend and her best friend.
TikTok user Sophly2 shared a video that was sent to her by another friend of her boyfriend and her best friend. Now, it would be one thing if the two were making out, touching each other, or even doing something that showed the two were totally “into each other.” Instead, the video left a bit of confusion.
In the video, her boyfriend and best friend are dancing at a party.
Well, from the position the video was taken from, it seems her boyfriend was being a bit goofy and pulling some dance moves on her best friend, who seemed preoccupied doing something—but, she was laughing at the goofy moves. When they both saw the camera, they smiled and laughed—not really “hiding much.”
However, Sophly2 said it looked “fishy.”
She posted the video asking if it was “sketchy” and said it was “a little too close for comfort.” The two seemed to be goofing around, and we can kind of see where it can come off as a bit flirtatious and flirty. But, they weren’t really doing much that can be “sketchy.”
People on TikTok were in a debate over the video.
Some people said that the girl who posted the video on TikTok is “insecure” and needs to calm down, as the video isn’t bad at all. It seems the two were good friends just fooling around, casually, at a party. And, if she’s her best friend, she should be happy that they are so close and friends.
Other people said that it’s a “whole vibe.”
Other people chimed in saying that if it was their husband/boyfriend and their best friend, they would be so happy. The two seem to really like each other and if they can goof off and have fun like that, it’s a great thing for the TikTok user. Who wants their bestie to hate their man?!?
Others said that she should confront the person who filmed the video.
There were also those who think the person who filmed the video is the one to blame. That person seems to be trying to stir up some drama and stir the pot quite a bit. Maybe that person has a crush on the TikTok user’s boyfriend and wants them to break up. Seems suspicious to us.
Many other TikTok users offered advice, too.
Some people said that the TikTok user should be asking her friend, not the internet, if anything is going on there. If it is her best friend, she shouldn’t be too worried to talk to her about her feelings or insecurities. Other people agreed that she should sit down and have a conversation with her.
However, there was one person who made us all weary.
One commenter said that she “would usually say” there is nothing going on there and it is totally fine and innocent. However, her ex-best friend and her ex-boyfriend are now together and are expecting a child together. So, there is always that side of things!
