One man’s Disney proposal suddenly turned a lot less magical after a Disneyland Paris employee grabbed the ring and led him away before his girlfriend could even say anything.
The story behind every married couple’s proposal is different, but many of them tend to involve grand displays of love that were either a long time in the making or were part of a big spectacle.
And while it’s generally not a good idea to propose in front of a crowd of people, it’s also true that a specific place can mean a lot to a couple and that definitely seems to be true in a lot of cases for the Disney parks throughout the world.
After all, a lot of proposals happen at Disneyland and since this has been true for years by now, you wouldn’t think that it would be such an unusual sight for the people working there.
However, it seems there was something about where one couple did this that drew an employee’s ire and inspired a decision the company now considers regrettable.
On June 2, A Reddit user named wasgehtlan posted a short video to a Reddit community intended to condemn unsavory people.

According to Newsweek , the video started as the uploader’s genuine attempt chronicle his best friend’s marriage proposal in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Paris.
And while the stage that the proposal happened on is normally fenced off to the public, wasgehtlan explained in a comment that his friend had asked an employee for permission to use it and she agreed once he told her it was for a proposal.
However, it seems that she either didn’t have as much authority as she assumed or one of her colleagues didn’t get the memo.

Because while the man was in the middle of his proposal, we could see this worker run on stage and grab the ring out of his hands.
As the couple looked on in confusion, the employee then walked off-stage with his arm outstretched, indicating that he wanted the couple to follow him.
This action compelled wasgehtlan to title his video, “POS destroyed my best friend’s moment. He asked for permission beforehand.”

And apparently, that’s how a significant number of the people gathered around the stage saw it too as scattered boos could be heard once folks realized what was going on.
Indeed, the man’s confusion was apparent when he could be faintly heard saying to the employee that his coworker said they had permission.
To this, the worker then said, “Yes, that’s great but over here will be even better.”
But of course, neither the couple nor the crowd bought into the idea that the worker hadn’t already ruined the moment. Because once again, we can hear in the clip that more boos followed this statement right as the video ended.
As Newsweek reported, this incident prompted a Disney representative to reach out to the magazine and say, “We regret how this was handled. We have apologized to the couple involved and offered to make it right.”
In a separate Reddit comment, wasgethtlan confirmed that their friend was indeed in contact with the corporation.
