Being a celebrity on the internet is a pretty hard task. No matter who you are, or what photo or video you share, it seems as though people will have things to say and will try to bring their negative energy.
This is true especially when it comes to having children.
Celebrities are always sharing photos and videos of their kids online. No matter how adorable and sweet they are, though, there are always mom-shamers that feel the need to add their own, rude commentary.
One mom who is always sharing photos and stories of her kids is model and TV show host, Chrissy Teigen.
Chrissy has two children, Luna and Miles, with husband John Legend.
She’s always sharing sweet moments with her family on Twitter and Instagram.
Many of which involve her husband, John.
Sometimes, she even shares moments with her mom in them, too.
Showing that in her life, family always comes first.
Chrissy always keeps it real online, even sharing photos of “honest” mom-problems.
From candid moments to funny posts, she isn’t afraid to be raw with her followers.
She wasn’t afraid to share this breastfeeding photo where she nursed her son and her daughter’s doll at the same time.
That’s what I call multi-tasking.
And she was praised for sharing photos of Miles in his special head-shaping helmet.
Chrissy helped bring awareness about these helmets to her followers and normalized these medical devices.
However, for some reason, she gets some of the harshest mom-shaming online from commenters.
Despite showing her stretchmarks, post-labor diapers, and even honest parenting advice, moms everywhere still judge Chrissy for many of the things she shares online of her kids.
When she posted about Luna’s first dentist appointment, people criticized her.
Many people said that Luna was overdue for her first appointment and should have seen gone earlier. Sigh.
And then there was the time Chrissy shared this photo from a grocery store.
Of course, the haters had a field day because Chrissy bought cereal (gasp!) for her kids.
Recently, she shared a video of her son, Miles, taking some of his very first steps.
Her adorable son is only a year old.
The video features Chrissy’s mom helping Miles as he walks on his own for the first time, and then plops to the ground.
Miles uses a marble bathtub for support, take a few steps on his own, and then adorably falls to the ground.
Chrissy joked that they were “screwed” with two kids now on foot. However, people ended up leaving nasty comments saying it was “dumb” of Chrissy to let her son walk so close to a “marble bathtub.”
While the area was filled with hard surfaces, obviously Chrissy and her mother were close enough to help.
One person even commented that they hoped Miles didn’t fall and “crack his head”.
Yikes, that’s kind of a graphic scenario for a “first steps” Instagram post.
However, many fans jumped to Chrissy’s defence, too.
Everyone is so worried about kids’ safety these days. Remember when parents let their kids tumble every now and then?
Big sister Luna was already on the case, guys.
Luna was totally ready to catch him in case he fell. What an awesome sis!
One user even joked about how “lucky” Chrissy was.
Yes, lucky to get so many strangers parenting her kids. Is “lucky” the right word? I think I would feel more annoyed than anything.
Chrissy ended up commenting on her own post under the mom-shamers.
She wrote on the comments, “I have to block like 20-30 people every time I post my kids,” she wrote in the comments. “So many dummies. Is someone forcing you at gunpoint to be annoying.”
It’s time to stop shaming people online for the way in which they decide to raise their kids.
Regardless of how you choose to raise your kids, there is no “right” and “wrong” way to do so. It’s time to stop judging moms for the way they do things.
