Turning Point USA, the right-wing group founded by conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, has made a major announcement about the Super Bowl halftime show in the wake of Bad Bunny being chosen to perform.
Bad Bunny is meant to perform
The Super Bowl halftime show is usually a highly anticipated act as millions tune into the NFL event every year.
It was recently announced that Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny has been booked for the halftime show act for February 2026.
But many aren’t happy with the choice
Although Bad Bunny is beloved by many, some were unhappy with the announcement that he’d be performing at the Super Bowl.
Of the people whose feathers were ruffled by the news was President Donald Trump, who called it ‘crazy’ while speaking to Newsmax, per Politico.
Turning Point USA has now made an announcement
Turning Point USA, which is now run by Charlie Kirk’s wife, Erika Kirk, made a major announcement in light of the backlash towards next year’s act choice.
The group has confirmed that it will be offering an alternative to the Super Bowl LX halftime show.
It would be for those who don’t want to see the original
Turning Point USA announced its alternative show will celebrate ‘faith, family and freedom’.
The group wrote on their social media, “It’s true, Turning Point USA is thrilled to announce The All American Halftime Show. Performers and event details coming soon.”
Bad Bunny has been facing backlash over other things
The Puerto Rican artist has been the subject of backlash from conservative commentators.
This is not only due to being chosen as the 2026 Super Bowl act, but also after deciding he’d exclude the US from his tour in fear that ICE agents would target those at his concerts.
Homeland Security Secretary said ICE will be present
Speaking on The Benny Show podcast, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed that ICE agents will be present at the Super Bowl.
“I have the responsibility for making sure everybody who goes to the Super Bowl has the opportunity to enjoy it and to leave, and that’s what America is about,” she said. “So yeah, we’ll be all over that place. We’re going to enforce the law.”
Bad Bunny poked fun at the backlash
In an October 4 appearance on Saturday Night Live, Bad Bunny poked fun at those criticizing him.
He said, “I’m doing the Super Bowl halftime show and I’m very happy,” sarcastically adding, “And I think everyone is very happy about it. Even Fox News.”
He’s proud to have been chosen for it
“But really, I’m very excited to be doing the Super Bowl, and I know that people all around the world who love my music are also happy,” Bad Bunny said.
He added in Spanish, “Especially all of the Latinos and Latinas in the world here in the United States who have worked to open doors. It’s more than a win for myself, it’s a win for all of us.”
He joked about people learning Spanish
“Our footprints and our contribution in this country, no one will ever be able to take that away or erase it,” the King of Latin Trap added.
He also poked fun at complaints that his music is in Spanish, adding, “If you didn’t understand what I just said. You have four months to learn.”
