The Hollywood star Bruce Willis appeared with his driver on Wednesday 22 January as he was heading to Studio City. This is just days after the actor personally expressed his gratitude towards firefighters for tracking and tackling the wildfires in Los Angeles.
The actor who is currently battling aphasia and frontotemporal dementia was taking a drive through the San Fernando Valley neighborhood.
Willis greeted first responders
The 69-year-old Die Hard legend was recently filmed by his wife, Emma Heming, who caught a moment of the star warmly greeting and thanking LAPD officers and first responders for their efforts in tackling the wildfires that have recently ignited in LA.
He even posed for a photo
In the video shared online by his wife, Willis is seen shaking hands with the officers and posing for a photo with them to share his gratitude.
His wife wrote that he had wanted to show his appreciation for the first responders and was finally able to.
The actor and father was grateful
“Spotting a first responder, Bruce never missed a chance to show his gratitude with a heartfelt handshake and a “thank you for your service.” Yesterday was no different,” Hemming wrote.
Willis was diagnosed with aphasia, which is a communication disorder that affects speech, and frontotemporal dementia in the past few years.
Willis is a proud father
Willis is a father of five daughters, three with his ex-wife Demi Moore, Rumer, who is 36 years old; Scout, 32; and Tallulah, who is 30, and two with Emma Heming, Mabel Ray, 12 and Evelyn, as young as 10.
The actor’s ex-wife shared an update
Actress Demi Moore who is still in close contact with Willis shared a recent emotional update on his wellbeing. The two had been married from 1987 to 2000.
In an interview with CNN she shared that he was “in a very stable place at the moment.”
She shared her sincerity
“I’ve shared this before, but I really mean this so sincerely. It’s so important for anybody who’s dealing with this to really meet them where they’re at, and from that place, there is such love and joy,” the actress said in her interview.
Moore learnt a lot from Willis
Although the actress admitted that the journey with Willis’ health has been a tough one, she also reflected on all the lessons it has taught her.
“There is great loss, but there is also great beauty and gifts that can come from it,” she said.
His diagnosis was revealed in 2023
Following Willis’ retirement due to his aphasia, a brain disorder that affects speech and language, the Unbreakable star’s family had first revealed his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis in 2023.
He has since received ample love and support from family and fans alike.
His wife isn’t hiding it from the kids
Only last month, Willis’ wife, Heming, opened up about what it’s been like for the family, sharing that she doesn’t hide her husband’s condition from their young daughters.
“This disease is misdiagnosed, it’s missed, it’s misunderstood,” she said speaking with Town & Country Magazine.
She’s able to educate their kids
“So finally getting to a diagnosis was key so that I could learn what frontotemporal dementia is and I could educate our children,” Heming shared, before adding, “I’ve never tried to sugarcoat anything for them.”
“If we could see that Bruce was struggling, I would address it with the kids so they could understand, but this disease is chronic, progressive and terminal,” she admitted.
