Celebrity photographer Marcus Hyde has been accused of behaving inappropriately and predatory towards female models. Some of Hyde’s more famous clients include Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande, Kanye West, Childish Gambino, and Chance the Rapper.
Model Sunnaya started the conversation last night when she made this post on Instagram.
She shared what appears to be a conversation with Hyde through Instagram direct messages where Hyde allegedly tells her if she sent him n**e photographs of herself and modeled naked for him, it would be free, but if she wasn’t willing to be naked, it would cost her $2k.
When Sunnaya expressed concern at this deal, Hyde told her to “find someone else.”
Sunnaya captioned the photograph “Ur fav male photographers are grimey” and then tagged Hyde’s account.
Sunnaya is now facing her Instagram account, posts, and stories being deleted.
She alleges that Instagram is removing her posts about Hyde due to bullying, harassment, and n****y,
Ariana Grande, who has worked with Hyde in the past, has spoken out.
Ariana took to her Instagram stories to condemn Hyde’s behavior, although she doesn’t mention him by name. She writes, “Please do not shoot with photographers who make you uncomfortable or make you feel like you need to take your clothing off if you don’t want to.”
“If you want to, sick. But if you don’t, please don’t.”
“If they tell you you have to pay more money if you’re clothed that’s [expletive],” Ariana wrote, addressing the messages Sunnaya shared. “I promise there are so many respectful, nice, talented photographers out there.”
Ariana suggested women work together to bring good photographers to each other’s attention.
“Look out for one another,” she wrote. “Tag your friends on posts of other photographers who’s work you like and have had positive experiences with and help each other get connected.”
Ariana then tagged photographers she works with.
She said, “Love working with you guys so much,” and tagged Alfredo Flores, Ricky Alvarez, and Stefan Kholi, who have all worked with her in the past and continue to work with her.
Ariana also added a small note at the end of her message.
She wrote, “I hate hearing about things like this. I am sorry that that was anybody’s experience and know that it doesn’t have to be.”
