Every mom at some point will experience #MomGuilt.
It comes from the feeling that you’re not doing enough for your child. It can also strike when you’re taking time for yourself, like having a night to yourself or going on a trip somewhere.
Even celebrities deal with it, like Amanda Seyfried . The Dropout star shared her thoughts in a recent interview with Kelly Clarkson.
Amanda is a Mom to Two Children, Son Thomas, 2, and a Daughter Nina, 5
She shares both with her husband, Thomas Sadoski, whom she wed in March 2017. For the most part, the Mean Girls star keeps her family life private.
She has, however, shared rare glimpses of her children. Like when she shared an Instagram Story of them playing on the floor in October. Amanda drew a heart on top of the picture of them having a make-believe picnic. So cute!
Amanda Loves Children So Much, She’s Even Considered Becoming a Doula
She revealed this interesting fact in a cover story for Marie Claire ‘s Beauty Changemakers Issue. Her inspiration for becoming a doula, which is a childbirth coach, came from her love of giving birth.
“I was like, This is the most amazing thing I’ve ever been a part of. I have to be there for women; childbirth is amazing,” she said of her experience. She ended up talking to her doula to find out more about what she did. Although she was intrigued, she ultimately decided not to move forward with getting certified.
“I’m better at, like, taking pictures and massaging the back,” she said.
As a Working Mom, Seyfried Knows the Feeling of Mom Guilt All Too Well
While on The Kelly Clarkson Show , she detailed feeling it intensely when she went away on a trip for the first time in a year. “It’s a lot of anticipatory dread,” she said on the show. “Like the week before I go, I have crazy migraines … it’s really, really hard.”
Things get a little (read: a LOT) better once she’s on the plane by herself and there are no kids around. “I have six uninterrupted hours to crochet,” she said.

“Or just do nothing,” Kelly, a fellow mom, chimed in. Amanda explained that this kid-free time allows her to do all the things that she wants to do all of the time, but never does.
“I watched Ocean’s Eleven ,” Amanda added. She concluded with a strong message every parent needs to hear: “We shouldn’t have guilt when we like finally have time for ourselves,” she said before adding, “And I had a margarita.”
