In case you haven’t heard, Disney is rebooting Home Alone for its Disney+ app.
One person decided to petition for the film’s original star, Macaulay Culkin, to reprise his role with no questions ask. And let’s just say that things escalated from there.
The original film came out in 1990.
It’s a frickin’ classic Christmas movie, in which one boy’s parents totally forget him at home and leave him behind while they go on vacation.

It was so successful that it reigned as the highest-grossing comedy of all-time until 2011, when The Hangover Part II finally took its crown.
That’s two decades of uninterrupted success. That is absolutely wild.
Now, Disney is remaking it.
Why? Man, I wish I knew.
They’re remaking it for Disney+, their new streaming app that will also see films like Cheaper by the Dozen, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Night at the Museum also remade.
Night at the Museum is a perfect movie, but go off I guess, Disney.
Not much is known about the remake right now.
Disney only has the option to remake Home Alone because of its acquisition of 20th Century Fox, which owned the rights to the film.
I guess Disney paid $71 billion dollars to watch a kid own a whole new generation of parents.

I can picture it now: a fully grown Kevin with teenaged siblings, parents younger than he is, trying to survive in a house with no wi-fi.
