For years, Ryan Reynolds has been the face of Deadpool (which is ironic, since the character is predominantly masked). And while he’s worked on other projects in the times between Deadpool installments, including the recent film Spirited , which is a musical retelling of A Christmas Carol , he had one Christmas flick in the works that got lost in time. That is, until he revealed it in a recent interview.
Prior to the release of Spirited , which stars himself and Will Farrell, and released for streaming on Apple TV+ last Friday, Reynolds sat down with The Big Issue to discuss the film, as well as the future of the Deadpool franchise.
It Was During That Interview That He Dropped The Bomb That Is The ‘Deadpool’ Christmas Flick.
“Four years ago [ Deadpool co-writers] Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and I wrote a Christmas movie starring Deadpool ,” he said during the interview . But it got lost in the shuffle of Disney acquiring Fox and it never got made.

“Maybe one day we’ll get to make that movie. It’s not a musical, but it’s a full Deadpool Christmas movie. So one day.”
I don’t know about you, but I’m incredibly curious as to how a Deadpool Christmas movie would unfold.

Hugh Jackman had portrayed Wolverine in a number of X-Men and superhero flicks but hasn’t been the character since 2017’s Logan . Deadpool 3 is currently in pre-production and is set to be released in November 2024.

Apparently, Jackman gave Reynolds tips for singing in Spirited . Jackman, who had appeared in movie musicals such as Les Miserables and The Greatest Showman , had a bit of experience to share with his friend and future co-star. But, in the same interview with The Big Issue, Reynolds said, “It comes so naturally to Hugh that in a weird way, his helping was not helping. He was like, ‘Just make sure you’re listening to those count-offs and those beats’. And I was like, ‘I don’t hear the beats, man. Help me out with something real here!'”
But Jackman’s Best Piece Of Advice Was To ‘Just Enjoy It’
The latest Deadpool movie will not be a musical, and it’s unlikely that the Deadpool Christmas film (if it ever gets made) will be either. But they are bound to be as special as Reynolds’ current foray into the musical genre.
