Amy Schumer has done it all: comedy, acting, hosting, activism. You name it, she’s been involved in it. And she does it all while advocating for her place in Hollywood as a plus-sized woman.
However, as a plus-sized woman in media, she’s often the target of some pretty hateful comments (we all know that being a confident woman is, like, some kind of sin these days; can you feel my eyeroll?).
However, Amy never lets anyone get to her—and they definitely don’t get the last word.
Amy is unapologetic about her size
In 2018, Amy starred in the film I Feel Pretty, about a “bigger” girl who suffers a fall and suddenly wakes up with the confidence of a girl half her size.
The film is a message to women everywhere

Speaking of the film to BW Magazine Amy said, “I want other women, other people to feel good about themselves. And I think walking out of this movie, you really do.”
Body positivity is clearly a big deal to her

She’s built up a thick skin as a woman in the public eye. “Nothing can really mess with my baseline at this point in terms of my confidence […] I have never been apologetic for what could be considered a flaw on my body.” Yes, girl.
And she’s not a fan of retouching

When asked if she wanted herself touched up for I Feel Pretty, Amy flat-out refused.
She told CBS This Morning, “I said, ‘Do not retouch me in this movie. Do not retouch anything.'”
It all hangs out

Continuing her conversation with CBS This Morning’s Gayle King, Amy also said, “Yeah. You see my cellulite. You see my, my rolls, whatever….It’s like, I feel great.” She has no problem being herself.
So it’s no surprise that she won’t stand for it online, either.
An Instagram account (since deleted) posted an image of Amy Schumer before and after their “retouching” services.
The Facetune-type account specialized in making you “Insta ready,” which is yikes dot com, friends.
Her features completely changed

Everything about her face changed, from its shape (oval to sweetheart) to the size of her eyes (apparently, they weren’t big enough). The end result looks like a really creepy robot, honestly.
Naturally, Amy had something to say
Amy found the post and swiftly took the account to school.
She commented on the post and said, “Woof, this is not good for our culture. I like how i look and don’t want to look like a carbon copy of this one type woman you feel is the best way to look.”
The real kicker? Where the image was taken

The “before” image was actually taken at the premiere of I Feel Pretty, which is…the most ironic thing in the entire world.
Way to not only miss the point of the movie, but come for the wrong woman.
The Instagram account has since disappeared
A search for “@get_insta_ready” yields nothing. The account was deleted after Amy clapped back at them. That’s one victory for women everywhere. Here’s hoping they don’t resurface under a different name.
This isn’t the first time Amy has snapped on Instagram
In 2018, Instagram user @iacewlguy took a paparazzi image of Amy strolling along the beach in a bikini and decided it needed a change.
See, the whole point of the account was to show off their Facetune skills.
Amy stepped in

Amy saw the post and wasn’t thrilled. She screenshotted the first of the images, aka the “before,” and captioned it “Real a** me.”
You can see that she already looks great.
There’s literally nothing wrong with her body (or anyone’s, thanks).
The after is a little terrifying

The Facetune edit made Amy look like an alien, especially with her slimmed down neck and pulled in waist.
There was absolutely no need for this, and Amy clearly hated it. She posted “Boo” over the image on her Instagram story.
But wait, the user prefaced the edit with a compliment!
The user was quick to point out in their caption, “So I think Amy looks great already but man does she look way better I’m my OPINION in the second photo.”
Here’s a helpful tip

The whole thing could have been posted without the after image, and just stopped the caption at “So I think Amy looks great.” But hey, what do I know?
Anyway, Amy wasn’t having it

She politely commented, “I disagree. I like how I really look. That’s my body. I love my body for being strong and healthy and sexy. I look like I’d give a good hug or have a drink with you. The other picture looks nice but it’s not me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts as well. See, we’re both right.”
The user actually apologized
After seeing Amy’s comment, @iacewlguy decided to respond.
They apologized and also said they didn’t know they were being ignorant. “I’m sorry for my ignorance and I will take it down! I have no right to make people feel bad about themselves!”
Looks like a lesson was learned

The user then deleted the image and posted their back and forth on their page, adding, “I’m glad people called out this post! That was a d*ck move on my end. Well all I can do is apologize, I’m sorry.”
They also reformed their facetuning ways

Recognizing that the entire point of the account was toxic, @iacewlguy posted one more message before they abandoned their account. I don’t know if the mic drop was warranted, but at least they’re making a change.
That’s new on the internet.
Amy has taken her inclusivity message to the store

In December 2018, Amy and costume designer Leesa Evans launched a clothing line at Sak’s 5th Avenue, called Le Cloud.
The whole idea behind the clothes was to make something that feels like a cloud when you wear it.
Le Cloud is set to expand

At present, the line actually only goes up to a size 20. Amy says she has plans to expand it to a size 28, and to make the line cheaper, since the price point is on the high end.
New things are on the horizon

Along with the expansion of Le Cloud, Amy is expecting her first child.
She’s been completely unashamed to share every painful part of her pregnancy, including the changes happening to her body.
Pregnancy isn’t always pretty

Amy hasn’t shied away from posting herself in every conceivable position, including the multiple times that she’s had medical issues during her pregnancy. This picture, in particular, is a badass move—pregnancy isn’t a cakewalk.
She still has her sense of humor, though
Far be it for Amy to not make a joke out of her struggles, including the changes in her body.
