After years of keeping up with the Kardashians , it may be time to slow down.
Since 2007, we’ve watched the family turn their reality show into a full-blown empire, complete with multi-million dollar businesses and lavish mansions in gated communities.

When ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’s started in 2007, the family was still relatively relatable.
Even though they were wealthy (and notable thanks to the late Robert Kardashian serving as O.J. Simpson’s attorney), they seemed a lot like every other family.
They had fought like everyone else and marriage life wasn’t always easy for Kris and Caityln Jenner.
The world didn’t know it then, but the Kardashians were poised to take over as one of the world’s most famous families.
Thanks to Kris’s brilliant managing skills, she was able to turn Kim’s leaked sex tape into massive careers for the whole family.
Over the seasons, we watched as the Kardashian empire grew.
Those humble beginnings were soon replaced with multi-million dollar mansions and lavish lifestyles.
By the time The Kardashians appeared on Hulu, they were utterly unrelatable. Combined, the sisters and Kris have 1.2 billion Instagram followers.
They’ve also amassed more wealth than anyone could ever dream of.
Take Kylie, for example. She was only nine years old when the show began. Now, she’s a billionaire thanks to her beauty lines.
And yet, these are the people we’re comparing ourselves to?
We’re the ones who have to pick out our own outfits and get ready by ourselves in the morning.
Meanwhile, the Kardashian family has dermatologists and glam squads on speed dial.
We’ve even witnessed the Kardashians comparing themselves to each other.
Kim made a joke about this during her monologue on ‘SNL.’
She joked that her sisters use her as a reference photo to show their plastic surgeons.
While Khloé has lost a lot of weight, the Good American fashion designer has spent the majority of her life living in her sisters’ shadows.
“In truth, the pressure, constant ridicule and judgment my entire life to be perfect and meet other’s standards of how I should look has been too much to bear,” she once said in a statement.
She continued, sharing some of the unkind comments she has received : “‘Khloé is the fat sister.’ ‘Khloé is the ugly sister.’”
“Her dad must not be her real dad because she looks so different.’ ‘The only way she could have lost that weight must have been from surgery.’”
This is the same Khloé that was slammed years later for being “out of touch with reality” after making fat-shaming comments.
In a resurfaced clip of an old interview, she was heard saying:
“I can’t stand people who are, like, eating a bucket of Haagen-Dazs ice cream and they are like [mock-crying] ‘I’m so fat’.” Yikes.
Kim’s comments about people’s bodies weren’t much better.
She’s been called a bad role model ever since she lost an extreme amount of weight in a short period of time so she could fit into Marilyn Monroe’s dress for the Met Gala.
Most recently, she even had people feeling self-conscious about their bone density after she had a full scan to analyze her body’s health.
“Look who pulled up. They measure your bone density & body fat percentage & all the good stuff to make sure you are fit and healthy,” Kim posted on her Instagram stories.
After the procedure was complete, she shared her results.
“You have a 1.3 Z-score, you plug that into the table on the right-hand side and that puts you in the 93 to 97 percentile.”
“You hear that?!?!!!!” she wrote alongside the clip. “My bones [are] stronger than 93-97% of people.”
But instead of being impressed, people were upset that she was bragging about her bone density.
Keeping up with the Kardashians has proven to be exhausting. All it means is that we’re losing ourselves.
We don’t even do this with other famous families, like the royal family.
Would we all like to be a prince or princess?
Sure. But have we accepted that it’s probably not going to happen? *takes off fake crown* Yes.
And yet, we still scroll on our phones, looking at “perfect” images of Kim Kardashian in a bikini and wishing our stomachs were as small as hers.
Celebrity comparison has gotten so out of hand, especially in a world where many celebs have gotten work done.
For a much-needed change of pace, it’s time to practice self-love.
The only person you need to keep up with is yourself and become the best version of you .
