Have you ever attended a movie when all of a sudden the projector breaks? Oh, no! I witnessed it once at a film festival and that was the end of the show for us.
But that wasn’t the case for this one movie theater in California. When the projector broke down, a single mom got on stage and did an impromptu stand-up routine. Oh, yeah. That’s right! What do you know — it was all caught on camera , ha, ha.

Tiffany King, a self-proclaimed “momic,” was at a movie theater with her eight-year-old daughter when the projector broke down. That’s when her daughter egged her on to go up to the front and try to entertain people.
So what are you gonna do?
Are you going to say “no” to your kid? Well, this mom didn’t, and she promptly got to the front of the house and started an unrehearsed stand-up routine. Ha, ha, that must’ve been something, huh? I bet it caught a least a few people off guard.

A Twitter user @sorry_charley posted clips of King’s set, quipping, “All hell broke loose at the AMC Burbank 16 last night.” It included some interesting sound bites, such as the single mom proclaiming that ‘all the moms in NorCal thought I was a stripper.” Oh, boy, ha, ha.
Here’s how this mom described her decision to go on stage.
Apparently, she wanted to make her kid proud by being challenged to do it. According to her, she can’t get up on stage every night as other comedians do, so this was her chance to seize the day. I can see that kind of reasoning. That’s for sure.
This stand-up gig didn’t come without some resistance.
In the video, you can hear at least one woman saying, “Put us out of our misery.” However, that didn’t stop this single mom. In fact, other people told her to ignore the heckler and so she did. And she went on for about another 15 minutes.
After the video was posted on Twitter people had a lot to say about it.
I love this man’s comment. I mean, kudos to her for at least trying, huh? So perhaps some people found her comedy ‘cringe-worthy,’ but she definitely went for it. And if anything, that teaches her kid to be confident even if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Here’s a good point.
I mean, if we saw the entire clip, we would have known exactly how it went. But all we have to judge this lady with is a cleverly edited few seconds. Am I right? And what if she did bomb? Then so what? I’ve seen my share of bad stand-up routines in my life, ha, ha.
But then, of course, there’s this.
I get what this person is saying too. After all, the audience came to see Channing Tatum in The Lost City and not some mom telling jokes. According to King herself, she knows she didn’t kill this performance, but she has seen worse.

Would you have encouraged this woman to keep going, or would you be the one to heckle her? I’m not one to yell at someone to “get off the stage,” so I would have tried to be nice.
