There’s no denying that Jamie Lee Curtis is a national treasure. She’s constantly defying expectations placed on her by Hollywood and society as a whole, setting a wonderful example for people everywhere.
One of her most iconic roles is that of Laurie Strode, who’s battled against killer Michael Myers for years now throughout the Halloween series . The final installment has arrived, and Curtis put her all into her last film as Laurie Strode.

Halloween is nearly here!
As the temperatures drop and trees start shedding their leaves, many people are turning on their favorite classic horror flicks to get the vibes right for the upcoming celebration.
Among those classics is the Halloween series, which follows killer Michael Myers and survivor Laurie Strode, played by the legendary Jamie Lee Curtis.
The series began in 1978.
But the latest (and final) installment, Halloween Ends , came out just this month, and we recently learned a stunning fact about it. It proves not only star Jamie Lee Curtis’ dedication to the movie and the character of Laurie Strode, but also showcases how much of a badass she truly is.
Curtis performed most of the stunts herself.
“I would say 98% of the stunts are her doing them,” said Director Gordon Green regarding the final fight between Strode and killer Michael Myers, “Actually, her double only did two shots.”
In preparing for this scene, Curtis proposed an idea.
She and the actor who plays Myers, James Jude Courtney, were doing a walkthrough of the fight so they could offer suggestions, so Curtis made one.
When shown a prop glass cabinet in the room, she told Green, “I want [Myers] to grab me by the hair and smash me into the glass.”
Green was not on board initially.
“I was thinking, I still got two more weeks to work with you, I can’t have shards of glass in your face,” he said, “But she did it. […] That stunt was her idea. I was reluctant — if not trying to forbid it — but it happened and it looks great.”
It’s stuff like this that solidifies Laurie Strode as the best final girl in horror, and Jamie Lee Curtis as an absolute legend!
Turns out that fight went through a lot of changes.
As Green described, “There was a lot of evolution. There was one version that had Allyson infused through the whole fight. But ultimately we pared that all back.”
“I didn’t want it to be your average knockdown drag-out brawl without a degree or emotion, without a degree of intimacy between these two characters that have come so far.”
“It needed real moments. Pauses, looks, glances.”
“However you want to look at it, these are two survivors and here we are facing them in a climactic moment. […] We made it a real conversation even though there are no words spoken in it.”
Though it’s this year’s quintessential horror release, ‘Halloween Ends’ has had mixed reviews.
It currently boasts a 39% on Rotten Tomatoes with a 57% audience score. Variety called it the “most joylessly metaphorical and convoluted entry” in the Halloween series, and one reviewer on Rotten Tomatoes declared, “It’s time that Myers and his mouldy old mask were laid to rest.”
It’s not without its supporters, though!
“[…] it’s just got enough fresh ideas, laughs (mostly intentional) and queasy jump scares to make for a raucous Friday night at the movies,” read one review.
No matter the ratings, we can at least appreciate how long Jamie Lee Curtis has stuck with Halloween , as Laurie Strode will forever be a horror icon thanks to her amazing performances!
