Kelly Rowland isn’t backing down.
Days after the Destiny’s Child alum showed support for Chris Brown after the singer won at the 2022 American Music Awards , she’s speaking out again.

This time, she’s doubling down on how “everybody deserves grace.”
Chris Brown Is No Stranger to Controversy
The 33-year-old R&B singer has found himself in many legal battles throughout the years. The most infamous incident took place in 2009 between brown and his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna. Brown escalated an argument to physical violence, resulting in physical marks on Rihanna’s face and a hospital visit.
The shocking incident made headlines around the world, with Brown being labeled an “abuser,” and felony charges against Brown.
A Bad Reputation Has Followed the Singer Ever Since
The Forever singer has found himself in legal trouble several times since then, including the time his ex-girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, asked for a restraining order against him. She claimed in court that Brown texted her violent threats , such as “Bitch I will beat the s— out of you” and “I promise you I will make your life hell.”
Then, in 2019, Brown was detained in Paris over claims that he had raped a woman. Brown adamantly denied these claims.
Given This Troubled History, Many Celebs Have Dropped Brown as a Friend
But not Kelly Rowland. The Destiny’s Child alum made that more than clear when she presented Brown with his award for Favorite Male R&B artist at the 2022 AMAs.
Since Brown wasn’t there in attendance, Rowland accepted the award on his behalf. When many boos were heard amongst the cheers, she held up her finger and addressed the haters.
“Excuse me. Chill out,” she said, before telling Chris Brown, “I love you. Congratulations.”
Rowland’s Support of Brown Led to Backlash Online
Instead of withdrawing her public support for Brown, Rowland recently doubled down. In an interview with TMZ , she shared her thoughts on the “bullying” Brown faced when he won.
“I believe that grace is very real, and we all need a dose of it. And before we point fingers at anybody, we should realize how grateful we are for every moment we get,” Rowland said.
“Even our own things that we have, I just think it’s important to remember to be human. We are humans.”
She didn’t back down, even when asked if Brown should be forgiven for his controversial actions.
“We all need to be forgiven for anything that we could be doing [and] anything that we’re thinking. We all come up short in some sort of way. And grace is real, and we are humans, and everybody deserves grace, period,” she said.
