Another day, another ridiculous, unrealistic photoshop that I must bring to light in an effort to save the confidence of young girls everywhere.
While Kim Kardashian’s shapewear company “Skims” launched back in 2019, it was praised for its size inclusivity. However, in the years that have followed, Skims would be been criticized for photoshopping their models, including Kim K.
Now, the brand is coming under fire for heavily editing Tyra Banks.
Regardless of how you feel about Kim, Skims has some of the best marketing campaigns I have ever seen.

This shapewear line went from a couple of pairs of panties to dressing the USA Olympic Team!
Now, the brand’s latest campaign involves some of the biggest names in modeling.
“Icons meet icons,” the Skims Instagram captioned a video of the four bombshells. “Legendary models Tyra, Heidi, Alessandra, and Candice wear the Fits Everybody styles that’ll change everything you know about underwear.”
As you can tell from the video, everyone looks freaking INCREDIBLE!
However, after the hype was drummed up from the initial promo video, many fans were surprised to see Tyra Banks’ body looking completely different in the edited photos.
In a post shared by Instagram account @igfamousbydana, the comparisons between Tyra in the video and Tyra in the ads was undeniable.
It seems they took in her waist a significant amount and slimmed down her thighs.
“Of course, all the former VS angels appear to be edited in the static images vs the video,” Dana pointed out.
“but the most glaring one is Tyra Banks it’s disheartening that her body is edited to more closely resemble Kim’s hourglass body shape when Tyra’s body is straight or even apple,” Dana wrote.
“Tyra is gorgeous – like breathtakingly so – and would be such a great icon for average/plus sized bodies who DON’T have an hour glass shape (aka the “right” kind of plus)” she continued.
“As someone without the small waist/hourglass shape, I want more straight bodied representation, of all sizes, in addition to many other body types.”
“Do better, Skims” she concluded.

“Idk why would they do this. Tyra’s straight body was admired, celebrated, envied, and glorified for decades. Just like Adriana Lima’s body,” commented one user.
“im honestly SO tired of social media. every single thing is so manufactured and fake it’s sickening,” echoed another.
“ugh & the irony of Tyra’s most recent birthday post where she says in the caption how she is appreciative of her “more full body,” pointed out a different user.
Instagram account @problematicfame shared a striking side by side of Tyra’s body before and after editing in a since-deleted Instagram story.
I couldn’t agree more with Dana and Problematic Fame’s sentiments, and it seems like everyone else is just as annoyed by the decision to reshape Tyra’s beautiful body!
