Today in “the internet gets mad at celebrities” news: Cardi B bought her baby…a diamond bracelet(s)?
Yup, she sure did. $80,000 worth of diamonds now belong to her 10-month old baby, Kulture.
The internet had opinions. A lot of them.
Cardi gave birth to Kulture in 2018.

She is married to fellow rapper Offset, and the two welcomed Kulture Kiari Cephus in July 2018.
That baby is already worth more than I ever will be, and she’s like 10 months old.
She took to Instagram recently to share her latest purchase for Kulture.

The mix of gold, rose gold, and platinum is such a flex.
Cardi posted her text conversation with her jeweler, who just casually mentioned that they need $80k wired as payment.
Uh…that’s gonna take a lot of us a couple years to earn.
And she even posted a picture of Kulture wearing one of them.

That baby’s wrist is with more than my life savings.
Honestly, all I have to say about this is that I hope she got those bracelets in different sizes, because Kulture is going to outgrow that bracelet real quick.
Anyway, Cardi then deleted those posts.

Probably due to the insane public backlash.
People were pretty outraged that Cardi would spend that much money on her baby, to which I say…uh, it’s her money?
I didn’t say it was a smart purchase. I just said it was hers to make! Do not @ me about this.
Let’s see what the internet has to say.
Ok, first of all: same.
Second of all, I don’t have a second of all. I’m just super jealous of a 10 month-old baby, and I’m okay with everyone reading this knowing that.
Some people were not impressed.
I mean, I do feel like I need to point out that diamonds are worth money, which can be exchanged for, uh, college tuition.
But I get the gist of this. I do.
Some people think she did it for herself.

While some people called it a waste, some pointed out that this all seems to benefit Cardi way more than it will ever benefit Kulture.
Points were made. Points were definitely made.
Other commenters understood.

“I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it.” – Ariana Grande, 2019.
Is it our business how celebrities spend money? What if they make it our business? I have a lot of questions about the ethics of “commenting on celebrity business” culture.
This person had a great observation.

Even if Cardi never posted about the bracelets, there’s always a chance that the information would get out there.
And posting about it was a lose/lose, too. At the end of the day, Cardi was never going to get out of this situation unscathed.
More than a few people were on Cardi’s side.

I mean, yeah! Basically, if she earned it, who are we to tell her how to spend it?
Diamonds are always a good buy, and now Kulture will have a bracelet in every color.
Janet kept it short and sweet.

Janet took one look at Cardi’s spending choices and had one thing to say: So immature.
Like, I guess I see why she said it, but I still think buying diamonds is a pretty mature thing to do.
See, this is a good point!
Part of me wonders if she only got one to fit Kulture now, and the rest are investment pieces?
Okay, who am I kidding…Cardi probably just wanted her baby to have a bunch of diamonds.
Deb was amused.

Damn, Deb! That was harsh! Perhaps accurate, but harsh!
Plus, as we discussed, selling diamonds will still net Cardi a lot of money. Sorry, Deb, I think Cardi might have the last laugh with this one.
Bringing logic to the table? I stan.

This is the most level-headed response.
While I definitely would not buy my baby diamond bracelets, Cardi has the means to. And we don’t know what else she has arranged for Kulture!
Christie had the last word, imo

Listen, gossiping about celebrities is fun, and talking about online reactions is fun, too!
But we can all slot some good ‘ol fashioned altruism into our days, so go find a cause and fight for it!
Then come back here so we can talk about celebrities some more. Best of both worlds.
