Candace Cameron Bure is no stranger to controversy . The Fuller House star has embroiled herself in many scandals throughout the years , with a lot of this stemming from her devout Christian conservative background.
She’s revealed some odd things about her marriage, rubbed viewers of The View the wrong way, and even recently gotten into a feud with JoJo Siwa . Here’s a list of all of her most controversial moments.
1. When she rubbed people the wrong way with her views on marriage

The Hallmark Channel star has been married to her husband, Val, for 25 years. They were introduced in 1994 by Dave Coulier, aka Uncle Joey, from Full House .
As a devout Christian couple, they have a marriage that not everyone agrees with.
This includes being submissive, which Bure wrote about in her 2014 book, Balancing It All: My Story of Juggling Priorities and Purpose . She wrote that she leans on Val to make most of the family’s big decisions.
“I quickly learned that I had to find a way of honoring his take-charge personality and not get frustrated about his desire to have the final decision on just about everything,” she wrote.

“I am not a passive person, but I chose to fall into a more submissive role in our relationship because I wanted to do everything in my power to make my marriage and family work.”
2. When she defended an Oregon bakery for refusing to make a cake for a lesbian wedding

“I don’t think this is discrimination at all. This is about freedom of association,” she said while she was a host on The View .
This led to an altercation with then-cohost Raven Symoné, who is openly gay.

“I refuse to associate with you right now,” she said. But Bure stood her ground, saying that the lesbian wedding conflicted with the bakery owner’s religious beliefs that marriage is between a man and a woman.
3. When she shared TMI about her sex life

“We have sex any time of the day, even if the kids are home,” she told OK! magazine . “We just make sure our kids can’t pick the lock on our bedroom door!”
4. When she defended her brother, Kirk Cameron, from “vile” Covid-19 protest comments

Yes, Kirk who played Mike Seaver on Growing Pains, is her brother. He caught flack for breaking several health guidelines during the pandemic, including when he hosted a Christmas carol event.
This was during a time when people were asked to socially distance themselves.
Although Cameron didn’t attend the event, she did stir up controversy online for defending her brother. “I don’t appreciate the vile tweets about my family. I believe respectful dialogue is the key to being heard. Stay safe.” she wrote on Twitter.
5. When she upset viewers on ‘The View’

The actress was on The View from 2015 to 2016. Since she’s an outspoken conservative Republican, she said that felt “pressure” to represent conservatives on TV. This made her a target of left-wing viewers.
“There was only one type of stress that I’ve ever felt in my life, that came from that show,” Bure has admitted.

“And I [have] PTSD, like, I can feel it. It was so difficult, and to manage that emotional stress was very, very hard.”
After it got to be too much on her mental health, she quit one month after Donald Trump won the 2016 election.
“I’ve never been more verbally abused in my life than on Twitter, and specifically in the last few months, having come on this show,” she said about the experience.
6. When she shared a “seductive” bible video on TikTok

In the controversial TikTok video, the Fuller House star lip-synced to the Lana Del Rey song “Jealous Girl” while holding a Bible close to her chest.
“When they don’t know the power of the Holy Spirit,” she captioned the clip.
Lyrics included, “Baby, I’m a gangster too and it takes two to tango/You don’t wanna’ dance with me, dance with me.”

As such, users accused the openly Christan actress of being too seductive. “The Holy Spirit isn’t seductive. What is this???” one wrote.
The video got so out of hand that she was forced to issue an apology — especially to her fellow Christians.
“I’m sorry,” she said in a video. “That was not my intention. I was using a very specific clip from TikTok and applying it to the power of the Holy Spirit, which is incredible.”
7. When Cameron and her husband faced a lot of backlash from their Christian followers over a “cupping” photo
As you can see in this photo, Val has his hand cupping the actress’ breast on Instagram.
Soon, Christian followers deemed it “inappropriate. “
Candace spoke about the issue on the ‘Confessions of a Crappy Christian’ podcast.

“’Oh that’s so inappropriate that you posted that as a Christian. You should be more modest,’” she said of the comments she received. Instead of deleting the picture, they defended it.
8. When JoJo Siwa said that Candace was the “rudest celebrity” she’s ever met
The Dance Moms alum made this shocking confession in a TikTok video. After the video went viral, Siwa explained that she had a “rough experience” with Bure when she was little.
“I was 11, and I was a big, big fan, and I wanted to take a picture with her, and it wasn’t a good time for her,” she said.

The news captured worldwide attention with Bure’s daughter, Natasha, even defending her.
“Respectfully, someone saying no to taking a photo with you is not a ‘rough experience,'” she wrote in a now-deleted Instagram story.
“This generation is so sensitive and has zero backbone. Grow up. There are bigger issues in the world than this,” she said. The feud has gotten even messier since then, with JoJo Siwa’s mother slamming Cameron.
