After a revealing Lifetime documentary, Surviving R. Kelly has sparked outrage from fans, concerned about the sexual assault allegations directed towards Kelly.
Fans were also seriously concerned about Lady Gaga’s silence on the matter after she collaborated with him back in 2013.
Earlier this year, Lifetime released its six-part documentary, “Surviving R. Kelly”.

It interviewed several victims who claimed that Kelly had sexually assaulted and harassed them.
As a result of the documentary, Kelly is now potentially facing a criminal investigation.
Celebrities like John Legend spoke out against Kelly in the documentary.

Notably missing were stars who had worked with Kelly in the past but declined to comment.
People like Lady Gaga and Jay-Z allegedly turned down the offer to speak out.
Fans of Lady Gaga were quick to question why she had yet to speak out against Kelly.

In 2013, Gaga released “Do What U Want (With My Body)” in collaboration with Kelly.
Supporters of Gaga were clearly outraged that she had stayed quiet on the matter for so long already.

And others were essentially begging for her to say something against him.
It took just a few days of backlash from fans until Gaga finally released a statement on her Instagram story.

“I stand behind these women 1000%, believe them, know they are suffering and in pain, and feel strongly that their voices should be heard and taken seriously,” she wrote.
She explained that the collaboration with Kelly happened during a “dark” time in her life.

She wanted to create something that was “defiant”, and wishes now that she could go back and seek therapy instead.
She vowed to support all women, men, people of all sexual identities, races, and victims going forward.

She also explained that the song would soon be taken off streaming services.

Overall, fans are relieved that Gaga finally spoke out against R. Kelly, and are happy to hear that their song will be taken down from streaming services.
At the end of the day, I think that’s all that Gaga fans wanted to hear.
