Jenna Dewan gets candid in her new book, Gracefully You , about her divorce from ex-husband, Channing Tatum, and how — at the time, it left her feeling “gutted”.
To refresh your memories, Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum announced their split in April, 2018.
After being together for 12 years, this news was a difficult pill for all of us to swallow.
Since then, however, Channing has moved on with his new girlfriend, singer Jessie J.
I think we can all agree that obviously, Channing has a type , amirite?
Jenna has also happily moved on with her boyfriend, Steve Kazee.
After one year of dating, the pair announced in September that they are expecting their first child together!
This will be the first child for 43-year-old Steve and the second for 38-year-old Jenna, who shares her 6-year-old daughter Everly with Channing.
“We are beyond overjoyed and couldn’t be happier to be expanding our family!,” the couple told People .
Anyway, in a recent interview with People about Jenna’s new book, “Gracefully You”, she opened up about her divorce from Channing.
First, she revealed that when she initially started writing the book, it was supposed to be a book of poetry.
“It started as a poetry book,” she began.
“It became a little bit of a lifestyle book, with some tips about things that I’ve learned in life, so then it turned into some memoir and some personal stories .”
“I wanted to write about the things that are important to me.”
“The spiritual side of myself, this presence that I love to connect with, it’s really and truly my very hippy self.”
“It sort of ends with the thought of, ‘If I had gone through what I’ve gone through in the last couple of years, what would I want to read? That’s what I thought.”
“I get this question all the time from women,” she continued.
“They’re like, ‘I’ve started my life over and want some advice.’ And so I thought, you know what? I want to share a little bit of my life .”
“It’s how I made it through, and what’s important to me in life, and how I found that.”
“And when you are going through a rough time, how to have the strength to know that you’re going to come out of that, and you’re gonna come back into the light, so to speak.”
She then explains that getting a divorce from Channing was never something she foresaw happening.
“I always say no one gets married to hopefully get divorced,” she said.
She went on, revealing that she struggled when she and him first split up.
“I was just gutted,” she began .
“It was so difficult for me.”
“It was the loss of an idealistic future for myself and my life.”
“What does that now look like for me? Where do I begin? I met him when I was 24.”
“I didn’t know life without Chan.”
“Ultimately, now I can honestly say that I’m living in a very joyful new place in my life, and I’m happy about it.”
“You would never expect your life to take a turn the way it does,” she said.
“But embracing it and starting fresh and figuring out what you want in life and what means a lot to you and what’s meaningful, what is going to make you happy .”
“I’m grateful that I now am at a place where I understand myself and what I want,” she said.
“And I’m happy about this new chapter. I’m in a place of joy.”

She explained that she, Channing, and their daughter, Everly, are still adjusting to the change.
“We’re all aware that it’s a new normal; we’re all getting used to it,” she said .
“You can still have a relationship,” she said, adding:
“Just because the forms change as to who you are to each other, it doesn’t take away from the love that we had or that we shared all those years.”
