Kate Hudson has been on a weight loss journey since the birth of her third child, Rani Rose.
Over the holidays, she paused that journey to allow herself to enjoy time with her family. She revealed the results of that on Instagram.

Kate has been very diligent about meeting her goals.
In November 2018, she posted a picture of herself at the beginning of her get fit journey.
In the caption, she said the hardest thing about it was getting enough time to herself to work out.
She had a few goals:
First and foremost, she wanted to be healthy so she can be around for her kids for years to come.
Her second was general wellness. She wanted to have a strong mind in addition to her strong body.
And the last?
To lose 25 pounds in time for a movie she was set to film in the summer of 2019.
She did eventually lose that weight, but the journey to it was pretty winding.
She posted an update to her Instagram story.
“So, post holiday I’m basically 136,” she said, showing off a scale that reads 136.5. “I always round up!”
Okay, no one tell Kate Hudson what 136.5 rounded up is. She’s doing her best!
She does have a goal number in mind.
“Ideal weight for me is 125. 10 to go.”
Of course, your ideal weight is totally based on your body and your own personal preferences. As Kate will explain, that 125 is. a lot of muscle.
She’s got a lot of muscle.
“I’m gonna say 3-5 pounds is mostly water. I’m a muscular frame so I weigh more even though I’m lean…important for people to understand that!”
Basically, she’s strong af, and a lot of her weight is muscle.
This is so key.
“Weight in muscle is a happy number.”
So often, we get caught up in what that number on the scale means. Kate knows that her number includes her impressive muscle mass.
She posted a video talking about her weight gain.
“Got on the scale…I wasn’t impressed,” she said in a video posted to her Instagram story.
“But that’s okay, because I know how to do this.”
And she’s right — she’s been keeping her fans updated on her journey for the last year.
That journey has included losing baby weight.
She revealed that she didn’t bounce back as fast after the birth of her third child, Rani Rose.
With her first two kids, it took her around 6 months to lose the baby weight.
Rani was a bigger challenge.
It took her 12 months to lose that baby weight.
For her weight loss, she partnered with Weight Watchers and became a brand ambassador.
“It was a smarter way to take weight off, because it stays off,” she said.
Other celeb moms have revealed their difficulties with losing baby weight.
Not only the physical difficulties, but the struggle with the pressure on women to “bounce back” so quickly after giving birth.
That mindset has been addressed by women like Chrissy Teigen, who decided to ditch it altogether.
Chrissy said she’s heavier than she’s ever been.
And the happiest.
She addressed the constant questions about her weight and how she eats on Twitter, saying :
“The thinnest I’ve ever been was right after Luna. Postpartum depression. I’LL TAKE THESE POUNDS AND THIS FEELING!”
Kim Kardashian made peace with every stage her body was in.
Post-baby, she opened up on her now-closed app about how jealous she would be of moms who could bounce back so quickly after having their babies.
“That’s not me,” she said.
However…
“We all have our hang-ups and things we might want to change. But my curves make me who I am. So I embrace my body and the changes I’ve gone through.”
Serena Williams had a similar attitude.
“After I came out [of the hospital], I had a stomach but I thought, this is kind of cool. I have a stomach because the baby was there,” she said .
