Jeremy Renner has responded after Chinese filmmaker Yi Zhou alleged that he sent her unsolicited explicit pictures and threatened to call immigration on her.
She posted the allegations last week
Chinese filmmaker Yi Zhou, 34, took to Instagram to make multiple accusations against actor Jeremy Renner, 54.
The filmmaker, who said she made a documentary and animated movie with Renner, claimed she had an altercation with him.
Zhou said she’s been in ‘fear’ of Renner
The director alleged she had an altercation with Renner at his home and claimed that she had been in ‘fear’ of him for ‘months’ afterwards, but now she wants to ‘share a truth I have been holding inside for too long’.
She shared it in multiple posts
Zhou made her allegations in a slew of posts, where she claimed in the first that Renner sent her ‘personal and intimate photographs of himself’ in June which were ‘out of the blue’.
She claimed this was followed by a ‘string of unwanted / unsolicited’ explicit ‘images of himself via DM and WhatsApp’.
Zhou noted they spoke about it
She claimed that their relationship then became romantic, noting that ‘we have been in a relationship’ and that Renner ‘found new love’ with her.
She said, “The power of love and embarked on the most difficult months + 2 Oscar running projects I kindly invited him to be part.”
She made further allegations in a new interview
Zhou made further allegations about her and Renner’s ‘relationship’ in an interview with the Daily Mail, alleging things fell apart during the Chronicles of Disney documentary.
“I was discussing about the doc logistics, then he drank a bottle of wine alone and got angry and angry yelling for two hours,” she said.
Zhou alleged she felt unsafe around him
“I had to location share to my team, my parents and Disney colleagues in case something happens to me they know where I am,” she said.
“I had to lock myself in a room to be safe praying he would not come into the room at night as he was really angry. I did not say a word, I was so scared for my life.”
She said he ‘threatened to call ICE’ on her
Zhou also alleged in her posts that when she confronted him about his ‘past misconduct and asked him to behave properly, to respect me as a woman and as a filmmaker, he threatened to call immigration/ICE on me, an act that deeply shocked and frightened me.’
Renner’s reps have responded to this
Since then, the actor’s representatives have denied all the allegations made against him. One representative said in a statement, “The accusations being made by this individual are totally inaccurate and untrue.”
The actor’s attorney, Marty Singer, also told People on November 7 that the claims are ‘false, outrageous and highly defamatory.’
The lawyer says Renner rejected Zhou
Singer claims that Zhou has made up the allegations because Renner ‘rejected her romantic advances’ and didn’t promote her projects online.
The attorney added that the pair engaged in a ‘brief consensual encounter’ once.
Renner’s team sent a cease-and-desist letter
“The true facts are that Ms. Zhou has relentlessly and aggressively harassed and pursued my client for months with no reciprocation on my client’s part, other than a single brief encounter on July 12, 2025,” Singer said.
People reported that Renner’s legal team sent a cease-and-desist letter for Zhou to stop all ‘defamatory communications’ and to not republish ‘false, fabricated and salacious lies’.
