Snoop Dogg voiced his opinion on LGBTQ+ representation in a recent interview and people aren’t too happy with his comments.
He spoke about it in an interview
In a Wednesday, August 20, appearance on the It’s Giving podcast, the 53-year-old rapper shared an experience he had at the cinema.
He was there to watch the 2022 Disney film Lightyear, which featured a storyline where a same-sex couple parents a child together.
He shared his thoughts on the movie
Speaking on the representation of LGBTQ+ individuals in cinema, Snoop Dogg said, “What you see is what you see, and they’re putting it everywhere.”
He then spoke specifically on Lightyear, which he went to see with his grandchild.
Snoop shared a conversation with his grandkid
The rapper added, “They’re like, ‘She had a baby with another woman.’ Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie is like, ‘Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!’”
“‘Oh s**t, I didn’t come in for this s**t. I just came to watch the goddamn movie,’” he recalled.
The kid kept asking questions
The rapper said he recalled his grandchild asking, “‘They just said, she and she had a baby, they’re both women. How does she have a baby?’”
Snoop then went on to claim that the experience made him ‘scared to go to the movies’.
He doesn’t like having to explain it
Snoop continued, “Y’all throwing me in the middle of s**t that I don’t have an answer for,” before adding, “It threw me for a loop. I’m like, ‘What part of the movie was this?’”
People online didn’t like his comments
Snoop’s comments on representation were met with backlash from online users.
One person said, “What a terrible take on the lesbian couple. It’s 2025 & y’all still being homophobic?”
Another person explained the scene
Another user wrote, “The whining about that Lightyear movie having a lesbian scene in it never ceases to highlight how idiotic the outrage around it was/still is.”
“The scene is literally just one of them holding a baby and having their arms around each other. It never implies two women made the baby at all,” they added.
