Halle Berry’s ex-husband David Justice has been slammed online after explaining the shocking reasons why the two divorced from his point of view.
The couple married after a short while
The Hollywood actor married baseball player David Justice in 1993 after a short few months of dating.
They met in 1992 when she passed him her phone number through a reporter.

But the couple broke up in 1997 and the actress even filed a temporary restraining order against Justice.
Berry once shared that the break up had such an intense effect on her mental health that she almost took her own life.
Justice has now spoken about why they broke up
Now, the baseball player has shared why he and Berry broke up from his point of view, and the 59-year-old’s admission has divided fans.
On a Thursday, August 7 episode of Matt Barens’ All the Smoke podcast, Justice shared why the relationship didn’t work out.
They were in the ‘honeymoon state’ for a while
Speaking on the relationship almost three decades later, Justice said they had been in the ‘honeymoon state’ for five months after getting married before things went downhill.
“We never had any major issues like that, it’s just that I, because I was young, and had only honestly been in one real relationship before her – my knowledge and my understanding and my wisdom around relationships just wasn’t vast,” Justice said.
He was expecting her to cook and clean more
“So, I’m looking at my mom – and I’m a Midwest guy. So, in my mind, I’m thinking a wife at that time should cook, clean, you know?” he explained.
“And then I’m thinking, ok, if we have kids, you know, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build up a family with?”
They started having issues because of it
The now father of three went on, “And at that time as a young guy, she don’t cook, don’t clean, don’t really seem like motherly, and then we start having issues.”
He suggested Berry was the one to ask for marriage
The baseball star also claimed that Berry was the one who asked him to marry so soon. He added, “I said OK, because I couldn’t say no. Who’s going to say no at that time?”
“I don’t know if my heart was really into it, but I didn’t want to make her feel bad and say no, you know, or [if] I was just in the moment,” he said.
People criticized him because of it
A lot of people online didn’t like Justice’s reasoning for the break up. One person said, “Sounds like he was looking for a housekeeper, not a partner.”
Another added, “You married Halle Berry in her prime as a movie star and was expecting her to cook and clean? Bye Felicia.”
One person even mentioned the actress
“He wants @halleberry as a housekeeper,” one person said, adding, “Congratulations on escaping queen.”
After the break up, Berry married singer-songwriter Eric Benét, whom she divorced in 2005, and then married Olivier Martinez from 2013 to 2016. Justice married Rebecca Villalobos Justice in 2001.
