This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think TikTok can be a great platform. I know, I know, but I’m serious! Social media, when used positively, can help people connect in meaningful ways. It can be a great resource for education and storytelling.
Plus, it can help raise awareness for worthy causes, which we LOVE! However, with every positive TikToker out there, there’s someone who is misusing the platform and trying to take advantage of people’s generosity.
Now look, I am not one of those who loves to criticize today’s youth.

I do believe Gen Z has a lot of wonderful potential and they’re doing a lot of good in the world. With every major tragedy that’s taken place, they’re on the front lines of activism and awareness and, of course, I think that’s absolutely amazing.
However, there’s always gotta be someone who challenges these beliefs.

Today, I’m going to be introducing you to a young man, Jack Doherty, who crashed his McLaren on a live stream while allegedly texting and driving earlier this month.
Yep, you read that right.
Doherty, 21, is an influencer known for his controversial prank videos and super shameless wealth flaunting.

Unsurprisingly, this lifestyle has landed the influencer in hot water many times before.
The surprising part here is that he has nearly 15 MILLION subscribers on YouTube. Can you feel my eyes rolling through the screen?
Earlier this month, Doherty crashed his $200,000 luxury car while livestreaming on Kick with a friend in the passenger seat.
The 21-year-old was driving in the rain and was allegedly texting while behind the wheel. Multiple videos of the crash circulated online and every single one fo them was extremely concerning.
After the crash, the social media star shared a post to Instagram saying “Glad we’re ok and alive.”

In the aftermath of the crash, Doherty has shared pictures of the smashed vehicle and even had the rapper whose song was playing while he crashed perform at his 21st birthday party. “From crashing my McLaren while listening to this Lil Baby song, to having him perform at my 21st birthday party,” he shared.
I know, right? A shining example for kids everywhere.

Now, to add insult to actual injury, Doherty has been accused of begging for donations on TikTok live. If you’re unfamiliar with how the platform works, creators can live stream and viewers can send them gifts that range in monetary value from a few pennies to hundreds of dollars.
Now why is this man begging his followers for money? We’re not totally sure, but it might have to do with the fact that he crashed his $200,000 McLaren.
The comments on the live stream were mixed, to say the least, with one viewer asking the YouTuber to explain how the crash even happened.

“I literally hydroplaned,” the 21-year-old replied. “I’m in a McLaren in the pouring rain, what do you expect? You guys have never drove [sic] a McLaren.”
Now, he’s not wrong there. I have never drove a McLaren.
I have also never acted like an entitled brat on social media, but that’s just me.

Unsurprisingly, people were eager to roast Doherty, with many viewers calling the TikTok live the ultimate fall from grace.
“Begging for money and then saying ‘you guys never drove a McLaren’ is crazy,” wrote one viewer.
“‘You guys have never drove a McLaren,’ is so tone deaf while you’re asking for donations,” echoed another.
“Someone is in damage control mode, would love him to do a manual job for a year at minimum wage,” added a different viewer.
So in case you were ever feeling bad about not being able to afford a $200,00 car, at least you’re not begging for pennies on TikTok live.
