Who doesn’t love some good Twitter beef? True, politically speaking it sometimes feels like the world is falling apart…but at least we’ve got Twitter beef.
For those who love the aforementioned Twitter beef, or politics, or current events, or any combination of the above, February of 2019 has been rich in its blessings.
Michael Cohen finally testified.

This is a huge deal because Cohen is President Donald Trump’s former lawyer. He has a lot of dirt on Trump — and he’s prepared to spill a lot of it to Congress.
The president is too busy to say much (for now).

Trump will probably have plenty of spicy takes when he gets back from North Korea — but until then, this is all he’s saying.
The Trump family won’t take this lying down.

Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., isn’t worried about fancy notions like “due process.” Instead, seeing someone potentially say mean stuff about his dad triggered an hours-long Twitter meltdown for Don Jr.
Don Jr. fired the opening salvo.

I mean, I get what he’s referring to, I think. I’m just a little confused. If Cohen’s breaking up with Donald Trump, why would Don Jr. be the one to keep the sweatshirt?
He kept going.

This sounds like a good point until you realize that Cohen was Trump’s personal lawyer, and he therefore was paid well by the Trumps to say nice things about the Trumps.
Hahahaha

A term of derision used by 12-year-old gamers and the sons of presidents alike, Don Jr. laid into Cohen with this sick burn. You see, this tweetstorm isn’t happening because he’s angry — he’s really just laughing.
It’s Eric Trump time.

With daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared pretty well sitting this one out, and the fact that Tiffany Trump has been AWOL for about two years, Eric Trump decided to enter the fray and defend his family’s honor.
Uh, someone already said that.

Eric Trump tried to destroy Cohen with a sick burn about lobbying for a White House job. It’s just too bad he said literally the same thing as his brother had tweeted two minutes earlier.
Don Jr. propped his brother up.

Even though Eric was a little late to the race, Don Jr. helped him feel better by agreeing with his tweet. The Trump boys spent a moment commiserating about what a big joke they think Cohen is.
Don Jr. was just getting warmed up.

Whether you believe Cohen’s testimony or not, he named specifics. Don Jr.’s tweets are just kind of Mean Girls-esque, popping off about what he perceives to be flaws in Cohen’s character.
It was great Twitter theater.

With politics an incredibly divisive subject in 2019, the Trump brothers’ tweets got all kinds of traction. It was pretty much an even split between supporters, critics and people just there to watch the fireworks.
Okay.

It’s probably worth noting here that Lanny Davis is literally Michael Cohen’s lawyer. You can put ‘counsel’ in scare quotes all you want, but it doesn’t change the basic facts.
It was a great day for a bag of Orville Reddenbacher’s.

The news surrounding the Cohen testimony would have easily been the top story of the day. But the fact that two of Trump’s sons were having a tantrum on Twitter just made things more entertaining.
Cue the burn.

The Trump brothers had lots to say about Cohen’s testimony. But it’s weird: even though they were apparently watching the events closely, they had absolutely nothing to say about this claim of Cohen’s.
It was a long, weird day for the Trumps.

The president is busy with meetings in Vietnam while his former lawyer was spilling all his dirt. He clearly needed a hero. Don Jr. and Eric might not be the heroes he needed — but they may have been exactly the heroes he deserved.
