While it’s true that being a Hollywood actor is one of the coolest jobs on the planet, at the end of the day it’s still a job. And just like any job, you aren’t always going to like your co-workers.
These 10+ actors went from being co-stars to straight-up enemies in a matter of moments. While some were quick to forgive, others carry on their feuds to this day.
Rachel McAdams & Ryan Gosling.
Ryan and Rachel despised one another while filming The Notebook . Ryan even once asked the director “Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?”
The actors reportedly patched things up in a “couples therapy” session.
Patrick Swayze & Jennifer Grey.
Jennifer Grey thought she and Patrick Swayze had zero chemistry in Dirty Dancing .
“I didn’t think we had chemistry ,” Grey said in an interview. “But you either do or you don’t. It’s a weird thing. It doesn’t have to do with whether you like someone or not. It’s just you either have it or you don’t.”
Nathan Fillion & Stana Katic.
The departure of Stana Katic from Castle was about as messy as it gets. The actress claimed that Nathan Fillion was, among other things, a bully who created a toxic working environment.
The show was canceled shortly after.
James Franco & Anne Hathaway.
James Franco described his Oscars co-host, Anne Hathaway, as being “so energetic, I think the Tasmanian Devil would look stoned standing next to [her].”
Anne didn’t find the comparison particularly humorous or in good taste.
Lea Michele & Naya Rivera.
“As Santana moved from a background character to one with bigger plot lines and more screen time. I think Rachel – erm, I mean Lea – didn’t like sharing the spotlight.”
Sarah Jessica Parker & Kim Cattrall.
Kim’s hate for Sarah runs deep. After the death of Kim’s brother, Sarah offered her condolences via Twitter. To which Kim replied:
“I don’t need your love or support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker.”
Charlie Sheen & Selma Blair.
Charlie Sheen went so far as to get his co-star fired from Anger Management .
Charlie himself broke the news to Selma in a text. He also supposedly called her a [expletive]. Yeah, he has some major issues.
Lindsay Lohan & America Ferrera.
The Ugly Betty co-stars were apparently at each other’s throats:
“America was mean to Lindsay. Producers give her too much power. Lindsay didn’t do the last two episodes because America didn’t like her and got her kicked off.”
Josh Hartnett & Harrison Ford.
Hartnett spoke about his time on set with Ford in an interview:
“There were times we would end up just sitting in the car when we were supposed to be doing a scene and neither of us would say anything for like an hour.”
Kiefer Sutherland & Freddie Prinze Jr.
When Freddie spoke about his time working on 24 , he had some pretty choice words for Jack Bauer:
“I hated every moment of it. Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world. That’s not me talking trash, I’d say it to his face, I think everyone that’s worked with him has said that.”
Blake Lively & Leighton Meester.
When speaking about Gossip Girl , show writer Joshua Safran is quoted as saying:
“Blake and Leighton were not friends . They were friendly, but they were not friends like Serena and Blair. Yet the second they’d be on set together, it’s as if they were.”
Terrence Howard & Robert Downey Jr.
Terrence claims that RDJ “Took the money that was meant to go to me and pushed me out” referring to the Iron Man movies.
I always wondered why Don Cheadle showed up…
Bill Murray & Lucy Liu.
While filming, Murray supposedly became enraged with Liu, screaming “What in the hell are you doing here? You can’t act!”
A fist fight ensued and the actors had to be separated by members of the production team.
Dakota Johnson & Jamie Dornan.
Talk about awkward – you can literally sense the dislike that Jamie and Dakota have for one another in this interview.
Dakota even admits that the actors were forced into becoming best friends for the sake of the movie.
Will Smith & Janet Hubert.
Hubert was cast as Vivian Banks, but departed the show due to friction with Will Smith. In a since-deleted post, Hubert wrote:
“There will never be a true reunion of the Fresh Prince . I have no interest in seeing any of these people.”
Lauren Graham & Scott Patterson.
“It’s fine,” Graham said to TV Guide. “I think these characters have great chemistry and that does mirror our chemistry as people. We’re not intimates.”
She did admit in the same interview that they were not best friends by any means. Not exactly enemies either though.
Claire Danes & Leonardo DiCaprio.
While never truly confirmed , there have been rumors going around for years that these two just could not get along on the set of Romeo & Juliet .
Leo was too much of a pranker, and Danes just couldn’t handle it.
Joan Crawford & Bette Davis.
Their feud on What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? is one of the most popular feuds of all time.
Crawford married Franchot Tone, who apparently was Davis’ great love. “I have never forgiven her for that, and never will,” Davis said.
Ashley Tisdale & Lucas Grabeel.
“We were not close. We were not good friends—let’s be honest,” Tisdale admitted. “It’s been 10 years, so we can talk about it. We hated each other. Like, I’m not kidding.”
Honestly, we couldn’t even tell! So that’s something.
Chad Michael Murray & Sophia Bush.
These two got married in 2005 and also got divorced in 2005, and throughout the entire time, and even after their divorce, they had to work together on One Tree Hill .
Talk about awkward. I wouldn’t have been able to do it.
Shannen Doherty & Jennie Garth.
“We were locked in this sound stage for 14–16 hours every day. There were times when we loved each other and there were times when we wanted to claw each other’s eyes out,” Garth explained.

George Takei & William Shatner.
Shatner was not afraid to bash his co-star during an interview. “There’s such a sickness there, it’s so painfully obvious that there’s a psychosis there,” he said.
“There must be something else inside George that is festering, and it makes him so unhappy that he takes it out on me, in effect a total stranger.”
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson & Tyrese Gibson.
This feud got super public once Gibson blasted Johnson on social media for going solo instead of sticking with the Fast and the Furious family.
“If you move forward with that #Hobbs Movie you will have purposely ignored the heart to heart moment we had in my sprinter,” Gibson wrote.
Heidi Montag & Lauren Conrad.
So, some of it is scripted, but there was still some bitterness that resided.
Montag said on a podcast, “I’d be willing to move forward and put things behind us. We would never be the way that we were again, but it would be fun to maybe catch up one day and be mature and be like, ‘Hey that was crazy, I wish you the best,’ type-of-thing. But I don’t think she would ever be ready for that.”
Betty White & Bea Arthur.
“Bea had a reserve. She was not that fond of me,” White said . “She found me a pain in the neck sometimes. It was my positive attitude—and that made Bea mad sometimes. Sometimes if I was happy, she’d be furious!”
Julia Roberts & Nick Nolte.
“Roberts reportedly wasn’t thrilled with Nolte’s machismo, so she would deride and insult her co-star,” said the LA Times .
“Some on the set claim that he became so annoyed with her attitude that he would do things to agitate her even more. The discord was so intense, the sources say, the two played more to stand-ins than to each other.”
Reese Witherspoon & Vince Vaughn.
The Daily News reported:
“Reese tries to force Vince into blocking out each scene and running through their lines as Vince tries to convince her that he’s an ad-libber and wants to play around and see where the scene goes.”
Jerome Flynn & Lena Headey.
“Jerome and Lena aren’t on speaking terms any more and they are never in the same room at the same time,” a source told The Telegraph .
“It’s a pity because they appeared to have patched things up for a while, but now the word is they should be kept apart at all costs.”
