The first official teaser trailer for Barbie featuring Margot Robbie arrived last weekend, leaving us with jaws on the floor! Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is one of the most anticipated movies of 2023, and the trailer promises us a full treat.
After set photos of the star-studded set leaked earlier this year, Gerwig tightened her ship and kept every piece of information sealed. That made the first look in the trailer all the more interesting, especially with Robbie flaunting her “plastic” legs.

Robbie As Barbie Is Stunning
The teaser showed Robbie in the titular character appearing in a desert as little girls played with plastic Bakelite baby dolls. Robbie appeared in the first Barbie form from 1959 wearing white and black striped swimwear with black stiletto mules.
The swimwear showed off her long-toned legs as the camera trailed upward to show Robbie’s transformed face. She wore her blonde hair with curls in the front and a ponytail, white-framed sunglasses, gold hoop earrings, and matte red lipstick.
True to history, the children dumped their forever baby dolls and longed for the grown-up version that changed the world. The fans in the Instagram comment section also approve with comments like,

A Tribute To ‘A Space Odyssey’
The internet can’t get enough of Gerwig and Robbie’s Barbie as she nails the theme to perfection. Gerwig paid tribute to 2001’s A Space Odyssey. While the movie’s direction remained under wraps, tidbits were leaking, and we had our ears to the ground.
Barbie goes on a self-discovery journey into the world of humans after being exiled from Doll’s land for being flawed. The most anticipated part of this movie is the costume as Barbie is famous for being a fashionista.

Already, the teaser trailer gave us a glimpse into the world of the fashion doll and we have no doubt that they’ll nail the iconic outfits. We’ve already seen Robbie and her co-lead Ryan Gosling in their neon roller-skating gear and the former in a pink jumpsuit.
The teaser trailer also showed us Simu Liu dancing and Issa Rae in a beauty contest with rolled black hair.

Barbie Vs. Oppenheimer
Barbie is set to hit theaters on July 21, the same day as Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. It’ll be the battle of the giants that day, as critics don’t know who’ll get the first day and weekend opening numbers.
However, we’re sure everyone is interested, as Barbie’s teaser ensured we knew what was coming. The battle has already begun because Nolan also released Oppenheimer’s official trailer last weekend.
