Kim Cattrall announced the loss of her beloved mother, Shane Cattrall, in an Instagram post yesterday with a straightforward caption. This is the second family loss following the death of her brother, Chris, four years ago.
While it still hurts as Cattrall was close to her mother, this passing differs from the last due to Shane’s long and happy life. Cattrall sent her mother off in a slideshow of their happy moments.

Celebrating 93 Years Of Life
Cattrall’s slideshow included several selfies with Shane and other pictures of her successful moments. One of them showed the actress in a graduation gown and hat with her mother beaming proudly beside her.
Another one came from the archives as Cattrall shared a childhood black-and-white shot of herself and Shane. The final slide showed a beautiful white flower in the ground with Shane’s name and her years as the family sent her forth.
More Condolence Messages From Fans And Friends
Cattrall’s friends flooded the comments with encouraging notes and words as they rallied in her sad moment. Kate Bryan wrote,
Chris Simpson wrote,
Stephen Dunn, Iron Chef Cat Cora, and Vanessa Kingori sent all their love and most messages ended with sorry and “sending love.”
A Life Well Lived!
Earlier this year, the actress celebrated her mother’s 93rd birthday saying she was glad the matriarch was still alive. It showed self-awareness and a realization that Shane’s time would soon end. Living up to 93 is a privilege only a few people experience, and Cattrall’s mother did.
The actress confirmed that her mother lived life to its fullest with the caption, “You’ve seen it all.”
No Condolences From The ‘Sex And The City’ Cast

None of her Sex and the City stars extended their good wishes as things went sideways the last time they tried to show condolence for her loss five years ago. Cattrall infamously told Sarah Jessica Parker that she’s not her family while reminding the younger actress that her mother, Shane, considered her a hypocrite.
Cattrall accused SJP of exploiting her tragedy to “restore her nice girl persona” although she welcomed Cynthia Nixon’s condolences with warmth.
