Navigating a new relationship can be challenging without adding a medical emergency to the mix. So when one woman found out that an accident her boyfriend had would result in an amputation, she became hesitant about continuing the relationship .
The woman called into ” Kyle & Jackie O ,” a popular Australian radio show, to present her dilemma and get some advice .

Last week, the woman called into the show to share her story.
The 26-year-old woman, who goes by Stacey, shared that she’d only been dating her boyfriend for five months when he had a horrible accident at work that involved him getting crushed under steelwork.
The accident caused a serious break to the boyfriend’s leg.
When they found out that his leg would need to be amputated, Stacey said her boyfriend went into a “depressive state,” which made things more difficult for both of them.
After all, she had only really known him for around six months.
“I’m fine with being with someone with a prosthetic leg, if I had met him and he had had it already that’s fine. I’m not superficial like that,” she said.
“It’s the fact that I’ve only known him six months and the amount of physical therapy he’s going to have to go through and it’s also that he’s not taking it well,” she explained.
“I’m having to sacrifice so much for this person I’ve literally only known for six months.”
She also felt that if their relationship wasn’t so new, it would be a different situation.
“If we were together for years or he was my husband that’s different but I’m in this pickle,” Stacey added. “He has friends and family that can help but I just don’t think I can lock myself into this. This is something I didn’t sign up for.”
Kyle and Jackie O were pretty divided on what she should do.
Kyle sympathized with Stacey, stating that she was put in a carer position, which must be “driving her crazy.” Jackie had more empathy with the boyfriend, saying that Stacey should “rip the band-aid off or honestly give it a go.”
Stacey continued to feel conflicted about what to do.
“He fully expects that I would stay and that’s what makes it even harder because I think if that happened to me and he left me how horrible that would make me feel,” she said.
Commenters weighed in on the situation, too.
They were pretty divided on if she should stay or leave, as there really isn’t one right or wrong answer in a situation like this. Some sided with Stacey’s possible decision, while others thought she was a little heartless.
In fact, some commenters thought she was being downright cruel.
“Major red flags on her part the guy should get out and get someone way better,” one user commented on Kyle and Jackie O’s Instagram post.
Others felt that if Stacey really felt this way, it would probably be best to end the relationship.
One listener wrote, “Hmm he deserves someone that will love him unconditionally and Stacey is clearly not it. no point in wasting either of their time.”
