Jeopardy host Mayim Bialik is speaking out days after the U.S. Supreme Court voted to overturn Roe Vs. Wade and addressing what she will do in light of such impactful news.

In the wake of this decision, outspoken celebrities and those who unintentionally predicted this result are now wondering what to tell those who look to them for answers in what seem like even more uncertain times than we thought.
And while that’s a question that Big Bang Theory alumnus Mayim Bialik has pondered since the decision was made, it seems that she is now coming forward with an answer.
In an Instagram video uploaded on June 27, Bialik revealed that this news came at a tough personal time for her family.
According to The Hollywood Reporter , Bialik has spent the last week battling COVID-19 alongside her children and it’s been a particularly tough fight for her since she’s immunocompromised.
As she said in her Instagram video , “It was kind of interesting to have a lot of personal stuff going on — meaning taking care of myself, trying to get better, keep my kids on the road to recovery — and then have news that impacts all of us on a country-wide level.”
And to her, the decision comes as a clear message from both the previous administration and the current Supreme Court has to how healthcare and the right to autonomy will be viewed in the United States.
In her words, “There are things going on right now in this country and in many states of this country that in my opinion are unforgivable in the scope of human rights.”
For her, the overturning of Roe V. Wade comes as a further example of the historic subjugation of women’s rights and have particularly devastating consequences in states such as South Dakota, where sexual violence and incest are not considered exceptions to the state’s legal requirement to carry pregnancies to term.
As for Bialik’s response, she said it will be to post much of the same things on social media that her team otherwise would, including about the various issues affecting people throughout the world.
As she added, “With a heavy heart, though.”
She also noted that the next episode of her mental health podcast Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown will address the “impact of a lot of decisions going on in this world on mental health.”
Naturally, the overturning of Roe V. Wade serves as a major example of what she’s talking about, so we can likely expect to hear more about that context of the ruling.
But what it seems we shouldn’t expect from Bialik is to see much arguing with those who support the Supreme Court’s decision either online or in person.
As she put it, “I don’t really feel the need to debate or give my reasons for a woman’s right to decide if she wants to carry a child to term.”
And as we can see in the full video here, that meant there wasn’t much for her to say before signing off other than to acknowledge the people and organizations protecting women in states “where they do not have the right to decide what to do with their bodies.”
She added, “That’s not a political statement, it is true.”
