Mark Wahlberg is getting candid about his expedited plans to leave Hollywood.
The 50-year-old Lovely Bones actor recently opened up about wanting to part ways with acting “sooner rather than later,” so that he can take more time to focus on his family, as it’s become increasingly difficult to leave them for long periods of time to film projects.

The 50-year-old recently opened up with ET about leaving his acting career behind so that he can spend less time away from his family for extended periods.
He explained that filming often requires him to leave his family for long periods of time, and the older he gets, the less time he wants to spend apart from them.
He revealed that filming a movie can sometimes require him to be away from his family, filming for several months at a time.
Wahlberg and his wife, Rhea Durham, share four children together.
The pair have two daughters, Ella Rae, 18, and Grace Margaret, 12, and two sons, Michael, 16, and Brendan, 13.
Wahlberg began by explaining the significance of his most recent project, “Father Stu,” the real-life story of a washed-up boxer who becomes a priest.
Father Stu was released on April 13th in theaters.
He explaine d that nowadays, he only wants to be a part of gritty, profound projects like this one.
“I feel like this is starting a new chapter for me in that, now, doing things like this — real substance — can help people,” he said.
As a man of strong faith, himself, Wahlberg shared that he wouldn’t mind seeing more faith-based movies and TV shows like Father Stu being made in Hollywood.
“I definitely want to focus on making more. I wouldn’t say necessarily just faith-based content but things that will help people,” he continued.
He added that he is hopeful that “Father Stu” will spark opportunities for more films like it.
“So, hopefully, this movie will open a door for not only myself but for lots of other people in Hollywood to make more meaningful content,” he said .
“This movie’s really touching everybody who sees it because we’re all going through something,” he said of the film. “These are very difficult times and so to be able to share this with other people and remind people that things can get better … we’ve gotta lock arms and support each other.”
When asked about his plans to retire from Hollywood, Wahlberg admitted the end is near. “Sooner rather than later, probably,” he said.
He added that he’s been a lot more selective lately about what movies he wants to be a part of.
For him to be willing to leave his family for months on end, it better be one heck of a movie.
“It’s gotta be something special to really bring me, you know, to leave home, to leave those guys behind,” he told ET .
“Because it’s the biggest sacrifice in the making for sure,” the actor explained.
