Back in May, it was reported that Aerosmith band member Steven Tyler was taking time off to focus on his health. Fans learned of the news through a statement released by the rock group at the time. In it, the band shared that their June and July shows in Las Vegas would have to be canceled after it was confirmed that Steven Tyler, 74, had entered rehab.
Now, it’s been reported that the legendary musician is out of treatment.
Aerosmith band member Steven Tyler has been open with fans about his ongoing battle with substance abuse.
As reported by People , the 74-year-old was first treated for addiction back in 1988 after an intervention by his bandmates and management.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight in 2016 , the singer gave thanks to his support system for their dedication to his health.
“Whenever someone dies, like Prince, I think to myself, ‘They died so I could live.’ I am just as much an addict as he was—[but] none of his people spoke up,” he admitted at the time.
“I say that with hope that the next time this happens to one of our other stars, somebody speaks up.”
In May, Aerosmith made the difficult announcement to fans that they would be canceling their Las Vegas shows this summer after it was reported that Steven had entered rehab.
Sharing the update on their Instagram at the time, their statement read : “As many of you know, our beloved brother Steven has worked on his sobriety for many years.”
“After foot surgery to prepare for the stage and the necessity of pain management during the process, he has recently relapsed and voluntarily entered a treatment program to concentrate on his health and recovery.”
“We will continue our 2022 dates starting in September,” they continued, “and we’ll let you know any further updates as soon as we can. We are devastated that we have inconvenienced so many of you, especially our most loyal fans who often travel great distances to experience our shows.”
Now, six weeks after going into treatment, it has been reported by People that the singer is out and doing well!
A rep for the band confirmed that Tyler left the facility, telling People: “He’s doing extremely well and looking forward to being back onstage.”
Sources told TMZ that the 74-year-old i s “at a healthy weight and his skin looks great.”
The source went on to say that the rocker “understands he’s fighting a lifelong problem and recognizes his addiction,” but “everyone’s hopeful he’ll stay clean and sober.”
I’m so glad to hear Steven is doing well and that he’s got such an amazing support system around him.
