10+ Interesting Facts About Hugh Jackman Fans Didn't Know

Hugh Jackman truly is the greatest showman (see what I did there). He's a superhero song and dance man with enough charisma to wake the dead.

He's an absolute treasure from the Land Down Under. So in order to help gain an even greater perspective on the man they call Logan, here are 10+ interesting facts about Hugh Jackman fans didn't know.

Hugh is a Tony Award winning, classically trained stage actor.

Back in 2004, Hugh appeared in a musical called The Boy From Oz.

The award was presented to him by fellow Aussie and his long time friend, Nicole Kidman.

He was selected to be in People Magazine's Top 50 Most Beautiful People in the World, five years in a row.

From the year 2000-2004, Hugh cracked the Top 50.

I'm sure the only reason his streak stopped was that it was just becoming too redundant to keep on including him year over year.

Hugh is in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Hugh holds the title for being the longest-serving Marvel superhero, alongside his fellow X-Men castmate Sir Patrick Stewart.

Both men served 16 years, 228 days in their respective roles.

He wasn't the first choice to play Wolverine in *X-Men*.

It turns out that Dougray Scott was initially tapped to play Logan on the big screen.

However, due to scheduling conflicts with Mission Impossible: 2 as well as a shoulder injury, Scott had to pull out.

He and Ryan Reynolds are actually the very best of friends.

You'd never know it from their years-long social media feud, but Ryan and Hugh's love for one another run deep.

Hopefully one day we'll see these two stars finally meet on screen in Wolverine vs Deadpool!.

Hugh is a horror movie buff and has always secretly longed to play Jason Vorhees in *Friday The 13th*.

I for one think that Hugh could bring incredible depth and range to the hockey-mask-wearing machete-wielding psychopath.

Imagine an all-singing, all-dancing Camp Crystal Lake?!

He's terribly near-sighted.

In fact, Hugh has a hard time seeing at all if he isn't wearing glasses or contacts.

He even foregoes teleprompters and cue cards in lieu of memorization techniques so that he doesn't struggle reading lines.

Hugh idolizes Olivia Newton John and organized an incredibly touching tribute upon hearing about her cancer diagnosis.

He told People Magazine that he would kiss her poster every night before going to bed!

How sweet is that?!

He has a degree in journalism from the University of Sydney.

Jackman was short a few credits and enrolled in an acting class in order to salvage his degree.

He quickly realized his love for the stage and began pursuing his passion full time.

Hugh is a firm believer in the power of thought and the importance of mental wellness.

“With meditation, my anxiety levels dropped considerably. It seems to me that the mind is fuel to the fire of fear. The mind can make us worry about things beyond their measure. And the great thing about meditation is that twice a day, the monkey mind just calms down.”

Hugh is 6'2", which is a full foot taller than Wolverine is in the comics.

This might seem like a rather insignificant detail, but it had comic book die-hards in an absolute uproar.

Many believed that not only was Jackman too tall for the role but that he was much too handsome to play the gruff, stalky Logan.

His first taste of theater came from working as a clown at kids' parties.

"I was Coco the Clown and I had no magic tricks and I remember a six-year-old standing up at a party saying 'Mummy this clown is terrible, he doesn't know any tricks' - and he was right."

Hugh Jackman looked to The Rock for inspiration with his Wolverine diet.

“He told me that if in a six-month period you want to put on 25 pounds of lean muscle and not fat, eat natural and eat 6,000 calories a day.”

In case you were wondering, that's more than double the recommended caloric intake for a man Hugh's size/age.

He thinks that Tom Hardy should replace him as Wolverine.

There's no denying that Tom would have made an incredible Wolverine.

However, with him signed on to play Venom, that doesn't look like it's going to happen any time soon.

Hugh sang at Joan Rivers funeral.

"When Joan Rivers asks, you just answer," Hugh said to Jimmy Fallon during an appearance on The Tonight Show.

He sang a song called "Quiet Please, There's A Lady On Stage."
