Emma Heming Willis, the wife of Hollywood icon Bruce Willis, is hitting back at online trolls who have accused her of using her husband's recent dementia diagnosis to gain attention for herself.

In an Instagram video, Heming Willis addresses the accusations and asserts she will always advocate for her husband.

“I just saw something about me getting my ‘five minutes,’ which means that you’re listening, so I’m going to take my five minutes, and I’m going to 10 because I’m always going to advocate for my husband.”

On Thursday, Bruce Willis' family announced that the Hollywood icon had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. The disease, the most common form of dementia for people under 60, causes damage to the brain's frontal and temporal lobes, affecting a person's behavior, language, and decision-making abilities.

Bruce Willis' family, including his wife Emma, 44, former partner Demi Moore, 60, and his children, are supporting him after his dementia diagnosis. Given his condition, they reportedly spend as much time with him as possible.

It has been almost a year since Bruce Willis, 67, stepped away from acting, and the hiatus continues. The Hollywood icon last appeared on screen in the 2020 movie Breach before revealing his diagnosis of aphasia.

Since last year, the Hollywood icon has been battling aphasia, a neurological affliction that leaves a person unable to communicate. Unfortunately, his condition has reportedly worsened, as revealed by his family.

In February, Bruce Willis' family released a statement confirming that the Hollywood icon has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a type of dementia that affects behavior, language, and personality.

In a statement released on the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration website, Bruce Willis' loved ones wrote about the cruelty of frontotemporal dementia.

“FTD is a cruel disease that many of us have never heard of and can strike anyone.”

Bruce Willis' family has warned that frontotemporal dementia (FTD) may be more prevalent than we know:

“For people under 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and because getting the diagnosis can take years, FTD is likely much more prevalent than we know.”

Emma has stated that she is committed to raising awareness of FTD following her husband's diagnosis. She plans to advocate for caregivers and make it her mission!

“I’m going to turn my grief and anger and my sadness into something good around something that feels less than,” she said.

We know in our hearts that — if he could speak today — he would want to respond by bringing global attention and connectedness with those who are also dealing with this debilitating disease and how it impacts so many individuals and their families.”

Bruce Willis was recently photographed for the first time in public since his family announced that he was suffering from FTD, hanging out with two friends in Santa Monica, California.

In an Instagram post, Emma Willis pleaded with paparazzi to refrain from yelling at her husband, Bruce Willis, if they see him publicly.

“Please don’t be yelling at my husband, asking how he’s doing, whatever.”

Emma expressed her frustration with the paparazzi culture and urged them to refrain from shouting at him.

She writes, “The woo-hooing and the yippee-ki-yay’s — just don’t do it, OK? Give him the space.”

Emma prompts the paparazzi for the safety and privacy of her family.

“Allow for our family or whoever’s with him that day to be able to get him from Point A to Point B safely. That’s my PSA,” says Emma.
